Answer:

Vf = 1.41 m/s

Explanation:

The velocity of the disc just before the friend catches it, can be found out by using 3rd equation of motion, as follows:

2gh = Vf² + Vi²

where,

g = - 9.8 m/s² (negative sign for upward motion)

h = height = 5 m

Vi = Initial Velocity = 10 m/s

Vf = Final Velocity = ?

Therefore,

2(-9.8 m/s²)(5 m) = Vf² - (10 m/s)²

Vf² = 100 m²/s² - 98 m²/s²

Vf = √(2 m²/s²)

<u>Vf = 1.41 m/s</u>

A certain string can withstand a maximum tension of 39. N without breaking. A child ties a 0.43 kg stone to one end and, holding
frez [133]

Answer:

Bottom of the circle.

Explanation:

At the top of the circle the tension and the weight contribute on being the centripetal force, at the middle of the circle only the tension contributes on being the centripetal force (the weight being perpendicular to it), while <u>at the bottom</u> of the circle the tension contributes on being the centripetal force (as always) <em>but the weight against to it</em>, so here is where the tension must be greater to allow the same centripetal force as the other cases, thus here is where the string will break.

What is the correct answer?
pentagon [3]

Answer:

B) x^2+6x+8

Explanation:

x-4 | x^3+2x^2-16x-32

    -  x^3-4x^2             <-- (x-4)(x^2)

_________________

              6x^2-16x-32

           -  6x^2-24x     <-- (x-4)(6x)

_________________

                          8x-32

                       -  8x-32 <- (x-4)(8)

___________________________

                                 0 | x^2+6x+8

This means the answer is B) x^2+6x+8

A pipe that is open at both ends has a fundamental frequency of 320 Hz when the speed of sound in air is 331 m/s.
fenix001 [56]

Question

What is the length of the pipe?

Answer:

(a) 0.52m

(b) f2=640 Hz and f3=960 Hz

(c) 352.9 Hz

Explanation:

For an open pipe,  the velocity is given by

v=\frac {2Lf}{n}

Making L the subject then

L=\frac {nV}{2f}

Where f is the frequency,  L is the length,  n is harmonic number,  v is velocity

Substituting 1 for n,  320 Hz for f and 331 m/s for v then

L=\frac {1*331}{2*320}=0.5171875\approx 0.52m

(b)

The next two harmonics is given by

f2=2fi

f3=3fi

f2=3*320=640 Hz

f3=3*320=960 Hz

Alternatively, f2=2\times \frac {v}{2L} and f3=3\times \frac {v}{2L}

f2=2\times \frac {331}{2*0.52}=636.5 Hz\\f3=3\times \frac {331}{2*0.52}=954.8 Hz

(c)

When v=367 m/s then

f1= \frac {v}{2L}\\f1= \frac {367}{2*0.52}=352.9 Hz
