180 in² - the area

width × lenght - the area

length : width = 5 : 4 therefore length = 5x and width = 4x

(x - some unit of length)

The equation:

(5x)(4x) = 180

20x² = 180     divide both sides by 20

x² = 9 → x = √9 → x = 3 in.

The length = 5x, therefore your answer is:

5x = 5(3 in) = 15in

Write a word problem that involves combining three equal groups
ipn [44]
Combining three equal groups means that we will mainly depend on multiplying the quantity by 3 to get the total

Examples are shown below:
1- Mrs Nadia teaches three classes. Each class has 25 student. How many students does Mrs Nadia teach in total?
In this problem we will be combining three equal groups of students where each group has 25 students, therefore:
Total number of students = 3 * 25 = 75 students

2- John has three bags of candies. Each bag contains 10 pieces of candies. How many candies does John has?
In this problem we will be combining three equal groups of candies where each group has 10 pieces, therefore:
Total number of candies = 3 * 10 = 30 candies

Hope this helps :)

Find the nth term of the arithmetic sequences
a1=5,d=6,n=11
ki77a [65]

here's the solution,

  • n = 11
  • a = 5 ( a = first term )
  • d = 6 ( d = common difference )

we know,

=》

nth  \: \: term \:  = a   \: + (n - 1) \times d

=》

11th \:  \: term   = 5 + (11 - 1) \times 6

=》

11th \:  \: term = 5 + (10 \times 6)

=》

11th \:  \: term  = 5 + 60

=》

11th \:  \: term = 65

nth term ( 11th term ) = 65

Choose the correct algebraic equation to represent: the amount decreased by $9 is $42.
vichka [17]

m - 9 = 42

42 is our final answer so that should be by itself.

If something is being decreased by 9, that means that we are taking away 9 from something so it should be m - 9.
