What is bacteria flagellum? What is made of and its function? What type of organization can flagella have on cells?
Nadusha1986 [10]

Answer:

Bacterial flagella is the external structure that is thin, long and filamentous. It is attached to the cell wall of the bacteria which helps in the locomotion of the bacteria. It has three parts a filament, hook and basal body. The basal body is incorporated in the cell membrane.

A flagellum is made up of a protein called flagellin. It is a rigid protein and helps in making the hollow core of the filament by assembling together to form a structure which is cylindrical in shape.

The organization of flagella on bacterial cells is helpful in the identification of bacterial species. Mostly 4 type of organization of flagella is present on bacterial cell that are monotrichous, amphitrichous, lophoyrichous and perithrichous.

In monotrichious bacteria, only one flagella is present on one side, in amphitrichous both side of the cell have an equal amount of flagella. Lophotrichous bacteria have a group of flagella at one side of the cell and amphitrichous bacteria have many flagella distributed equally on its cell.

In mammals, oxygen is carried through the red blood cells called hemoglobin. The reason is that the oxygen is very important for the cell for releasing energy. This energy is used by the cell in different processes.

2) These adaptations are adapted by the organisms in order to perform different functions. In slow twitch skeletal muscles having high number of mitochondria because it requires more energy while fast twitch skeletal muscles contains less amount of mitochondria due to low requirements of energy. These characteristics are adapted according to the performance of the body parts.

State two ways in which endocrine glands and exocrine glands differ.
denis-greek [22]

Answer:

The two major differences lies in the function and support system.

Explanation:

The two major differences between an endocrine and an exocrine system are as follows –

a) An endocrine system releases its produce (hormones) into the connective tissue i.e blood while the exocrine system releases hormones directly into the ducts so that it could reach the targeted tissue directly.

For example – the Adrenal gland is an endocrine gland that secretes adrenaline directly into the blood. The salivary gland is an exocrine gland that releases its produce into the collecting duct leading to mouth. However, Pancreas is both endocrine and exocrine gland.

b) The endocrine system cannot work alone therefore it works in coordination with the nervous system to control actions and balance the body. However, the exocrine system works independently
