Jasmine has painted two of her bedroom walls. She wants to put decorative trim around the perimeter of the walls and around the

door and window. The ceiling is 8 feet high. One wall is 18 feet in length, but it has a French door measuring 5 feet wide and 7 feet tall. The other wall is 15 feet in length and has a large window measuring 6 feet wide and 3 feet tall. She will not put trim at the base of the door.

Given the data below, the total length or amount of decorative trim can be calculated. It can be said that the total length of decorative trim is equal to the total perimeter of the two walls, the window, and the door, minus the base of the door.

Wall 1 = 2(8) + 2(18) = 52 ft.
Wall 2 = 2(8) + 2(15) = 46 ft.
Window = 2(3) + 2(6) = 18 ft.
Door = 2(7) + 5 = 19 ft.

Total length = 52+46+18+19 = 135 ft. of decorative trim

A student simplifies the given expression. Which statement BEST describes the error in the student's work? 12 + 24 ÷ 6(4) 36 ÷ 2
Marrrta [24]
A. The student added before multiplying.
If they had multiplied 6 and 4 first, the next step would have been too divide. But since they added first, they got 36/24 or 3/2 when the answer should be 13.

Find the number of all 20 digit integers in which no two consecutive digits are the same
Arturiano [62]
For the first digit of the required 20-digit number, we can have 9 choices for the number, those are the digits 1 to 9. In the second digit of the number, we will only have 8 choices. That is because, we don't want to write a number in the second digit that is similar to the first digit and the third digit.

Similarly, in the third digit's place, we will only have 8 choices because we do not want the digit to be similar to the second digit and the fourth digit. This will go on up until the 19th digit. In the 20th digit, we will also have 9 choices (from 0-9) but we do not want the digit to be similar to the 19th digit.

From the explanation given above, we have the number of ways,

    n = 9 x 8^(19 - 1) x 9  = 1.459 x 10^18

<em>ANSWER: 1.459 x 10^18</em>

Point C(3.6, -0.4) divides in the ratio 3 : 2. If the coordinates of A are (-6, 5), the coordinates of point B are .
Evgen [1.6K]

QUESTION 1

The point  C(3.6, -0.4) divides AB in the ratio 3 : 2.

The coordinates of A are (-6, 5).

Let the coordinates of B be (x_2,y_2)

We use the formula:

x=\frac{mx_2+nx_1}{m+n} to determine the x-coordinate of B.

We substitute the known values to obtain:

3.6=\frac{3x_2+2(-6)}{3+2}

3.6=\frac{3x_2-12)}{5}

3.6\times 5=3x_2-12

18=3x_2-12

18+12=3x_2

30=3x_2

This implies that:

x_2=10

We also use the formula:

y=\frac{my_2+ny_1}{m+n} to find the y-coordinate.

-0.4=\frac{3y_2+2(5)}{3+2}

-0.4=\frac{3y_2+10}{5}

-0.4\times 5=3y_2+10

-2-10=3y_2

-12=3y_2

-4=y_2

The coordinates of B are (10,-4)

QUESTION 2.

If point D divides CD in the ratio 4 : 5.

Then the coordinates of D are:

(\frac{4(10)+5(3.6)}{4+5}, \frac{4(-4)+5(-0.4)}{4+5})

(\frac{58}{9}, \frac{-18}{9})

The coordinates of D are (\frac{58}{9}, -2)
