Apples sell for $1.90 per pound, and bananas sell for $0.75 per pound. Troy bought some apples and some bananas. Together they w

eighed 3.8 pounds, and cost $5.84. Let p represent the number of pounds of apples Troy purchased. Which equation represents the problem described here?
A. 1.15p + 2.85 = 3.8

B. 1.9p + 0.75 = 3.8

C. 1.15p + 2.85 = 5.84

Answer:

  C.  1.15p + 2.85 = 5.84

Step-by-step explanation:

The equation above is not one you'd start off with to represent this problem. It is an intermediate step in the solution.

You can get there by realizing that the number of pounds of bananas is 3.8-p. Then the cost of the bananas is ...

  banana cost = 0.75·(3.8-p) = 2.85 - 0.75p

Of course, the cost of apples is 1.90p. The total cost is then ...

  apple cost + banana cost = total cost

  1.90p + (2.85 -0.75p) = 5.84

Simplifying, this becomes ...

  1.15p + 2.85 = 5.84 . . . . . . . . . . . . matches selection C

Please help me find the area of each shaded segment and round the answer to the nearest tenth :)
Keith_Richards [23]
Hi there!

In order to solve, we need to use the formula for the area of a circle, and the angle given to find the area of the sector. Then, subtract the area of the triangle to find the area of the segment. We would use the equation : A = x/360 (pi * r^2) - 1/2(b * h). We need to plug in 90 for the angle measurement, 8 for the radius, and 8 for both the base and height.

WORK:
A = 90/360 (pi * 64) - 1/2(64)
A = 1/4(64pi) - 32
A = 16pi - 32 = ~ 18.3ft^2

Hope this helps!! :)

Round 8,503 to nearest thousand
Jlenok [28]

Answer:

9,000

Step-by-step explanation:

If x < 5, we round down.

If x ≥ 5, we round up.

Since 8,503, 500 is ≥ 5, we round up to 9. So,

8,503 ≈ 9,000
