Mathematics, the Pythagorean theorem or Pythagoras's theorem is a statement about the sides of a right triangle.

One of the angles of a right triangle is always equal to 90 degrees. This angle is the right angle. The two sides next to the right angle are called the legs and the other side is called the hypotenuse. The hypotenuse is the side opposite to the right angle, and it is always the longest side. It was discovered by Vasudha Arora.

The Pythagorean theorem says that the area of a square on the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the areas of the squares on the legs. In this picture, the area of the blue square added to the area of the red square makes the area of the purple square. It was named after the Greek mathematician Pythagoras:

If the lengths of the legs are a and b, and the length of the hypotenuse is c, then,
a
2
+
b
2
=
c
2
{\displaystyle a^{2}+b^{2}=c^{2}}.

There are many different proofs of this theorem. They fall into four categories:

Those based on linear relations: the algebraic proofs.
Those based upon comparison of areas: the geometric proofs.
Those based upon the vector operation.
Those based on mass and velocity: the dynamic proofs.[1]

-Dominant- [34]

Answer:

1. Tectonic activity is responsible for some of Earth's most dramatic geologic events: earthquakes, volcanoes and deep ocean trenches can all be formed by tectonic activity in the lithosphere.

2.The lithosphere can affect the atmosphere when tectonic plates move and cause an eruption, where magma below spews up as lava above. This can also release copious amounts of volcanic ash or soot, which pollutes the atmosphere, blocks radiation and creates a cooling effect.

3. I don't know what's show on the text sorry that parts up to you good luck :)

Henry is making a corn grits recipe that calls for 1/4 cup of corn grits for every 1/2 cup of water. How much water will he need
Archy [21]

Method 1:

\begin{array}{ccc}\dfrac{1}{4}\ \text{cup of corn}&-&\dfrac{1}{2}\ \text{cup of water}\\\\1\dfrac{1}{2}=\dfrac{3}{2}\ \text{cup of corn}&-&x\ \text{cup of water}\end{array}\qquad\text{cross multiply}\\\\\\\dfrac{1}{4}\cdot x=\dfrac{3}{2}\cdot\dfrac{1}{2}\\\\\dfrac{1}{4}x=\dfrac{3}{4}\qquad\text{multiply both sides by 4}\\\\\boxed{x=3}

<h3>Answer: Henry will need 3 cups of water.</h3>

Method 2:

\begin{matrix}\dfrac{1}{4}\ \text{cup of corn}&-&\dfrac{1}{2}\ \text{cup of water}&|\text{multiply both sides by 2}\\\\\dfrac{1}{2}\ \text{cup of corn}&-&1\ \text{cup of water}&|\text{multiply both sides by 2}\\\\1\ \text{cup of corn}&-&2\ \text{cup of water}&|\end{matrix}

\begin{matrix}\left(\dfrac{1}{2}+1\right)\ \text{cups of corn}&-&(1+2)\ \text{cups of water}\\\\1\dfrac{1}{2}\ \text{cups of corn}&-&3\ \text{cups of water}\end{matrix}
