Refrigerators are usually kept at about 5∘C, while room temperature is about 20∘C. If you were to take an "empty" sealed 2-liter

soda bottle at room temperature and place it in the fridge, would you expect it to contract to one-fourth its original volume?

Answer:

The volume will not contract to one fourth of the original.

Explanation:

Applying Charles's Law as:

\frac {V_1}{T_1}=\frac {V_2}{T_2}

Given ,

V₁ = ?

V₂ = 2 L

T₁ = 5 °C

T₂ = 20 °C

The conversion of T( °C) to T(K) is shown below:

T(K) = T( °C) + 273.15

So,

T₁ = (5 + 273.15) K = 278.15 K

T₂ = (20 + 273.15) K = 293.15 K

Using Charles law as:

V_1=\frac {V_2}{T_2} \times {T_1}

V_1=\frac {2\ L}{293.15 K} \times {278.15 K}

V_1=1.8977 L

Thus, the volume will not contract to one fourth of the original. (1/4 of 2 L is 0.5 L).

The highest barrier that a projectile can clear is 19.7 m, when the projectile is launched at an angle of 15.0o above the horizo
svlad2 [7]

Answer:

76 m /s

Explanation:

maximum height, H = 19.7 m

Angle of projection, θ = 15 degree

Let u be the projectile launch speed

Use the formula of maximum height

H = u^{2}Sin\theta ^{2}/2g

19.7 = u^{2}Sin^{2}15/19.6

u = 75.9199 = 76 m /s

Find the de broglie wavelength of an electron in the ground state of the hydrogen atom.
HACTEHA [7]

de Broglie wavelength (λ) is given by the equation

λ = h/p

where h=Planck’s constant whose value is 6.62 x 10^(−34) joule-seconds and

p = momentum of the particle(here electron)

In terms of kinetic energy(E) momentum(p) can be written as,

p=(2mE)^1/2

where m=mass of the particle.

Hence λ becomes

1 λ = h(2mE)^-1/2

Given here, E = 13.6 eV = 13.6×1.6×10^-19 joule

m(mass of electron)= 9.1×10^-31 kg

Putting these values in equation (1) we get ,

λ =0.332×10^(-9) meter

=3.32×10^(-10) meter

=3.32 Å

What kind of stars make up the halo?
Step2247 [10]
By definition, a halo is a part of a galaxy wherein it mainly consists of scattered stars forming bulges having a significantly spherical structure. In addition, the galactic structure is commonly made up of old and metal-rich stars forming clouds of gas and dirt at the spirals of a galaxy.

Assume the average value of the vertical component of Earth's magnetic field is 42 μT (downward) in some region that has an area
Oliga [24]

Answer:

The net magnetic flux through the rest of Earth's surface is  5.782\times10^{-2}\ T

Explanation:

Given that,

Magnetic field = 42 μT

Area A=3.71\times10^{5}\ km^2

A=3.71\times10^{11}\ m^2

We need to calculate the flux per unit area

flux\ per\ unit\ area=\dfrac{42\times10^{-6}}{3.71\times10^{11}}

flux\ per\ unit\ area=1.132\times10^{-16}\ T/m^2

We need to calculate the total earth's surface area

A'=4\pi r^2

A'=4\times\pi\times(6.3781\times10^{6})^2

A'=5.1120\times10^{14}\ m^2

We need to calculate the rest of earth's area

A''=A-A'

Put the value into the formula

A''=5.1120\times10^{14}-3.71\times10^{11}

A''=5.10829\times10^{14}\ m^2

We need to calculate the net magnetic flux through the rest of Earth's surface

B'=5.10829\times10^{14}\times1.132\times10^{-16}

B'=5.782\times10^{-2}\ T

Hence, The net magnetic flux through the rest of Earth's surface is  5.782\times10^{-2}\ T
