Jim Crow Laws legally segregated African Americans, making them feel out cast in their own country, it also depleted educational opportunity, beings that children and adults could not go to the same schools and colleges as others.

Based on this excerpt from Ernest Hemingway's "In Another Country," what is the contextual meaning of the word resign?
kiruha [24]

I believe the answer is: A. "I am sorry," he said, and patted me on the shoulder with his good hand. "I would not be rude. My wife has just died. You must forgive me."

The word resign indicates accepting some sort of feeling or situation that cannot be ignored or pushed aside. From the sentences in option A, we can infer that the reader already accept the fact that his wife has died and acknowledge that his emotion is influenced by it.

One of the most interesting wonders in the world is a circle of stones known as
zimovet [89]

Answer:

C) Some scientists think that Stonehenge was used like a calendar.

Explanation:

Reading through the passage, we can see in this sentence:

"Some believe that the stone circle was used as a calendar to show how the sun and moon moved. This may have helped ancient people follow the seasons. This in turn would help people predict seasons."

The wording and phrasing help support our argument. It says on how they used it like a calendar, and how some scientists believe in that usage. (Hope this helps)
