1. The American government guides the overall pace of economic activity. Its goal is to maintain steady growth, high levels of employments and price stability. It is best achieved by adjusting spending and tax rates ( fiscal policy ), managing the money supply and controlling the use of credit ( monetary policy ). The government can slow down or speed up the country's economy's rate of growth which affects the level of prices and employment. Another role of the government in the economy is to correct market's failures, provide public goods and enforce competition.

2. During the recession that followed the Great Depression for example, the government cut taxes to curb competition and increased the money supply  via the control of interest rates. During a financial crises in any given time, the government tried to guarantee secure loans, bail out some troubled banks and adjust the money supply.

3. The federal budget has an affect on jobs, investments, economic growth and the standards of living of ordinary people. Tax cuts benefit many companies and individual businesses, and so do interest rates. Governmental investments in infrastructure and various projects ( education, health care ) have a direct affect on ordinary people, as the level of governmental spending on them reflects the level of services provided and received.

marishachu [46]

Answer:

Attentional capture

Explanation:

In psychology, the term attentional capture refers to the unintentional focusing of attention. In other words, this phenomenon takes place when attention is involuntarily directed towards a new stimulus based on the characteristics of that second stimulus interrupting our previous focus of attention.

In this example, Janice is focused on her daughter's soccer game. Suddenly she notices a bright flash and loud boom that indicates a thunderstorm and she involuntarily shifts her attention to this flash and sound, we can see that <u>her attention was involuntarily directed towards the flash and sound because they were bright and loud, interrupting her attention on the game</u>. Thus, this is an example of attentional capture.

Line, Region, Magnet, and Filter</span><span>.<span> . . Belonging truly to neither nation, it serves as a kind of cultural buffer zone for both, cultivating its own culture and traditions. Like other borders, it both attracts and repels. Like them, it is both barrier and filter. It is above all a stimulating cultural environment. . . .</span>--James S. Griffith
The Arizona Sonora border was established as a result of the Gadsden Purchase of 1853. It runs through desert and mountain country, from the western Chihuahuan Desert by New Mexico through a zone of grassland and oak-covered hills to the classic Sonoran Desert west of Nogales. The land gets more and more arid as one travels west, and the western third of the border is essentially devoid of human habitation. It is this stretch of the border, once a major road to the Colorado River, that has earned and kept the title El Camino del Diablo, "The Devil's Highway."</span>
