Answer:

The answer is: Although color is useful as a means of identification, it can sometimes vary depending on the site where it is absorbed by certain wavelengths, and the same mineral can have different colors depending on whether its colors they are their own or induced, for these reasons it would not be very useful to identify them by color.

Explanation:

The color of a mineral is the property that it has of absorbing certain wavelengths, if it does not absorb any it is white, if it absorbs them all it is black. The minerals can have their own colors or induced by the presence of certain chromophores elements that are in the mineral as impurities (Fe, Mn, Cu, Cr, Co, Ni).

The properties that help geologists identify a mineral in a rock are: color, hardness, brightness, crystal shapes, density and cleavage.

The answer is: Although color is useful as a means of identification, it can sometimes vary depending on the site where it is absorbed by certain wavelengths, and the same mineral can have different colors depending on whether its colors they are their own or induced, for these reasons it would not be very useful to identify them by color.

The pH of a solution is 5.0. To a 10 ml of this
mylen [45]

Answer:

pH = 7

Explanation:

pH is defined as -log [H⁺]. In a solution of pH 5:

pH = -log [H⁺]

10^(-5) = [H⁺]

1x10⁻⁵M = [H⁺].

Then, this solution is diluted from 10mL to 1000mL (990mL of water + 10mL of the original solution). That means the solution is diluted:

1000mL / 10mL / 100 times.

If [H⁺] before dilution was 1x10⁻⁵M, after dilution will be:

1x10⁻⁵M / 100 = 1x10⁻⁷M

And pH:

pH = -log [H⁺]

pH = -log 1x10⁻⁷M

pH = 7

What is the chemical name for the balanced equation? 2Al+3Pb(NO3)2=2Al(NO3)3+3Pb
Zigmanuir [339]
  • The chemical name for reactant side:

                  Al - Aluminium, Pb(NO3)2 -  Lead(II) nitrate.

  • The chemical name for product side:

                  Al(NO3)3 - Aluminium nitrate, Pb - lead.

Explanation:

  • This is an oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction:

                       3 Pb^{II} + 6 e- → 3 Pb^{o} (reduction)

                       2 Al^{o} - 6 e- → 2 Al^{III} (oxidation)

Pb(NO3)2 is an oxidizing agent, Al is a reducing agent.

  • Reactants:

                                    Al uminium

              Names: Aluminum, Aluminium powder,  Al

              Appearance: Silvery-white-to-grey powder, Silvery-white,

                                      malleable, ductile, odorless metal.

                             Pb(NO3)2 – Lead(II) nitrate

              Other names: Lead nitrate, Plumbous nitrate, Lead dinitrate

              Appearance: White colorless crystals, White or colorless crystals

  • Products:

                            Al(NO3)3 – Aluminium nitrate

              Other names: Nitric Aluminum salt, Aluminum nitrate,

                                       Aluminium(III) nitrate

              Appearance: White crystals, solid | hygroscopic

                                   Pb  - lead

              Names: Lead, Lead metal, Plumbum

              Appearance: Bluish-white or silvery-grey solid in various forms.

                                     Turns tarnished on exposure to air. A heavy, ductile,

                                     soft, gray solid.

Drag each label to the correct image. Each label can be used more than once.
guajiro [1.7K]

1) Acidic - gastric juices pH 1, lemon juice pH 2.2, tomato juice pH 4.

2) Neutral - salt solution pH 7.

3) Alkaline - baking soda pH 9, bleach pH 13.

pH is a numeric scale used to specify the acidity or basicity of an aqueous solution.

When pH is less than seven (pH<7), solution is acidic.

When is equal seven (pH = 7), solution is neutral.

When pH is greater than seven (pH > 7), solution is basic.
