Answer:

Mass of hydrogen produced =2.28 g

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of tin = 67.3 g

Mass of hydrogen produced = ?

Solution:

Chemical equation:

Sn + 2H₂O    → SnO₂+ 2H₂

Number of moles of Sn:

Number of moles = mass/ molar mass

Number of moles = 67.3 g/ 118.71 g/mol

Number of moles = 0.57 mol

Now we will compare the moles of tin with hydrogen from balance chemical equation.

                             Sn             :               H₂

                              1               :                2

                          0.57             :               2×0.57 = 1.14

Mass of hydrogen:

Mass = number of moles ×molar mass

Mass = 1.14 mol × 2 g/mol

Mass = 2.28 g

nexus9112 [7]
Mass of nitrogen = 14.0067
Mass of oxygen = 15.9994
In this compound nitrogen = 36.86 / 14.0067 = 2.63
And oxygen = 63.14 / 15.9994 = 3.95
now we have: N----- 2.63 and O----3.95
by dividing both with the smallest number we get
N-------2.63/2.63 = 1
O-------3.95/2.63 = 1.5
To get whole numbers we multiply both by 2
N= 1 x 2 = 2 And O = 1.5 x 2= 3
So, the empirical formula is N₂O₃.

Suppose you used 0.5 M NaOH to titrate your vinegar sample instead of 0.1 M. What effect does the concentration of base added ha
laiz [17]

Answer: the reliability will be worse

Explanation:

Suppose we used 0.5 M NaOH to titrate our vinegar sample instead of 0.1 M.

Now by using 0.5M instead of 0.1M we are increasing the concentration of NaOH,

We know that the moles used = Volume x concnetration.

so for the same no of moles, if the concentration increases, the volume decreases.

Hence it will consume less NaOH.

now Since the volume decreases, the titration volume of less number will increase the % error.

Therefore the reliability will be worse.
