Which of the following was a reason for southern secession? A. choosing Jefferson Davis as leader of the Confederate States B. f
Levart [38]

The correct answer is: Familiarity with and disdain for the Northern industrial workplace.

In the 1860s the Southern states based their economy on agriculture, their crops required lots of manpower so they relied on slavery to work on their harvest. The Northern states were beginning to base their economy on manufacture and factories and they relied mainly on immigrants to work on factories, and were in favor of the abolition of slavery.

So when Abraham Lincoln won the elections in 1860, the Southern states felt the government was in hands of the Northern states and that it no longer watched over the Southern interests, they saw with disdain the Northern activity and that became a reason for the Southern secession from the Union.

Explain what logrolling is through the disagreement between the northern states and the southern states. What does the South get
kap26 [50]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

Although there are no options either context or references, we can comment on the following.

Here you are probably talking about the Three-fifth Compromise, an agreement reached by the delegates that participated in the Constitutional Convention of 1787 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to create the new Constitution of the United States.

Delegates from large and small states in the North and South reached an agreement during the works during the Convention. The proposal was made by delegate James Wilson.

Delegates agreed on the way slaves should be counted to determine the real population in the states. This was an important agreement because, in the end, this would the number of seats that each state would have in the lower chamber of Congress or the House of Representatives, and the number of taxes each state had to pay.

Finally, after many debates, the compromise was that they were going to count three-fifths of the state population of slaves toward the total population of the state. This allowed states from the South to have third more legislators in Congress and electoral because, in the beginning, slaves had been ignored.

How has the Supreme Court interpreted the fifth amendment protection against self
Nesterboy [21]

Answer:

What does the fifth amendment protect?

The Fifth Amendment protects the right to avoid incriminating yourself. A defendant can plead the Fifth Amendment if a lawyer asks a question that the defendant would incriminate himself or herself by answering truthfully.

Explanation:

Constitutional Issue ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★

The Fifth Amendment of the Constitution guarantees that “no person . . . shall be

compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself. . . .” This right was made

part of the Bill of Rights to prevent a tyrannical government from forcing accused persons

to confess to crimes they may or may not have committed. Miranda’s case before the

Supreme Court was based on this Fifth Amendment protection. The Court accepted the

case in order to explore and clarify certain problems arising from earlier decisions related

to the rights of individuals taken into police custody. The precise question that the Court

explored was under what circumstances an interrogation may take place so that a confession made during the interrogation would be constitutionally admissible in a court of law.
