Answer:

v = \sqrt{\frac{GM}{r}}

Explanation:

The universal law of gravitation is defined as:

F = G\frac{Mm}{r^{2}}  (1)

Where G is the gravitational constant, M and m are the masses of the two objects and r is the distance between them.

The centripetal force can be found by means of Newton's second law:

F = ma  (2)

Since it is a circular motion, the acceleration can be defined as:

a = \frac{v^{2}}{r}  (3)

Where v is the velocity and r is the orbital radius.

Replacing equation (3) in equation (2) it is gotten:

F = m\frac{v^{2}}{r}  (4)

Hence,

m\frac{v^{2}}{r} = G\frac{Mm}{r^{2}}

Then, v can be isolated:

mv^{2} = G\frac{Mmr}{r^{2}}

mv^{2} = G\frac{Mm}{r}

v^{2} = G\frac{Mm}{mr}

v^{2} = \frac{GM}{r}

v = \sqrt{\frac{GM}{r}}

So the relationship between speed and orbital radius is given by the expression v = \sqrt{\frac{GM}{r}}

How is the size of stars measured?
Ber [7]

Most of the stars in our universe are in binary systems. Hence, the size of the stars can be found when one star eclipses the other. When so happens, the change in the luminosity is measured and size is calculated. Another way is by measuring the luminosity of the star and comparing it with the Sun's luminosity. As the luminosity is dependent on the size of the star, the radius of the star can be calculated when compared to the Sun. Following formula can be used:

Star's radius/Sun's radius = (Sun's temperature/star's temperature)2 Sqrt[star's luminosity/Sun's luminosity].

A crane lifts up two boxes.<br><br> Which free body diagram shows the forces acting on block A?
Temka [501]

Answer:

The 3rd graph

Explanation:

A free body diagram is a diagram which shows all the forces acting on an object.

The problem asks us to find the free body diagram of block A, so we must find all the forces acting on block A.

We have 3 forces acting on block A in total:

- The force of gravity (its weight), which pushes the block downward (in the diagram, it is the force represented with F_{gA}

- The tension in the rope 1, which pulls block A upwards: this force is represented with F_{T1}

- The tension in the rope 2, due to the weight of block 2, which pulls block A downwards: this force is represented with F_{T2}

Based on the direction of these 3 forces, the correct diagram is the 3rd one.
