Answer: 2.5x10^8 kilometers

Explanation:

Given that:

Distance between the earth and the sun = 2.5x10¹¹metres

Convert distance in metres to kilometers

Recall that 1000 metres = 1 kilometers

So, 2.5x10¹¹metres = Z kilometers

To get the value of Z, cross multiply

Z km x 1000 m = (2.5x10¹¹metres x 1km)

1000Z = 2.5 x 10^11

Divide both sides by Z

1000Z/1000 = 2.5 x 10^11/1000

Z = 2.5x10^8km

Thus, the distance between the earth and the sun is about 2.5x10^8km

How does approaching a temperature of absolute zero affect kinetic energy.?
Alexus [3.1K]

First of all the kinetic energy is when the particles move in continuous random motion.

If the temperature is high the colliding particles will collide more. and if the temperature is low the colliding particles will collide less.

Low temperature result in low kinetic energy
High temperature result in high kinetic energy

Absolute zero is the point where where all molecules have no kinetic energy. It is a theoretical value (it has never been reached).

The Kelvin temperature scale is based on absolute zero being the lowest possible temperature that could theoretically be reached. That is why there is no such thing as a negative Kelvin temperature value.

Four weightlifters (A-D) enter a competition. The mass, distance, and time of their lifts are shown in the table.
siniylev [52]

Let Pa, Pb, Pc, and Pd be the powers delivered by weightlifters A, B, C, and D, respectively.

Use this equation to determine each power value:

P = W÷Δt

P is the power, W is the work done by the weightlifter, and Δt is the elapsed time.

A) Determining Pa:

Pa = W÷Δt

The weightlifter does work to lift the weight up a certain distance. Therefore the work done is equal to the weight's gain in gravitational potential energy. The equation for gravitational PE is

PE = mgh

PE is the potential energy, m is the mass of the weight, g is the acceleration of objects due to earth's gravity, and h is the distance the weight was lifted.

We can equate W = PE = mgh, therefore we can make the following substitution:

Pa = mgh÷Δt

Given values:

m = 100.0kg

g = 9.81m/s²

h = 2.25m

Δt = 0.151s

Plug in the values and solve for Pa

Pa = 100.0×9.81×2.25÷0.151

Pa = 14600W (watt is the SI derived unit of power)

B) Determining Pb:

Let us use our new equation derived in part A to solve for Pb:

Pb = mgh÷Δt

Given values:

m = 150.0kg

g = 9.81m/s²

h = 1.76m

Δt = 0.052s

Plug in the values and solve for Pb

Pb = 150.0×9.81×1.76÷0.052

Pb = 49800W

C) Determining Pc:

Pc = mgh÷Δt

Given values:

m = 200.0kg

g = 9.81m/s²

h = 1.50m

Δt = 0.217s

Plug in the values and solve for Pc

Pc = 200.0×9.81×1.50÷0.217

Pc = 13600W

D) Determining Pd:

Pd = mgh÷Δt

Given values:

m = 250.0kg

g = 9.81m/s²

h = 1.25m

Δt = 0.206s

Plug in the values and solve for Pd

Pd = 250.0×9.81×1.25÷0.206

Pd = 14900W

Compare the following power values:

Pa = 14600W, Pb = 49800W, Pc = 13600W, Pd = 14900W

Pc is the lowest value.

Therefore, weightlifter C delivers the least power.

What is the relationship between temperature and altitude in the stratosphere? (2 points).
stealth61 [152]
As altitude increases, temperature increases. The stratosphere is the part of the atmosphere that starts in the tropopause and ends in the estratopause. In the troposphere, the air is close to the Earth surface. The air surface can absorb more sunlight energy than the air, so the Earth surface heats the air. As you go higher, the distance to the Earth surface is higher, so the temperature is lower. The troposphere ends in the tropopause, where this trend changes. In the estratopause, there is a lot of ozone, which absorbs the dangerous UV radiation and converts into heat. That heat warms the air. So the air which is close to the estratopause is warm because of the heat released by the ozone reactions. The tropopause is far from the Earth surface and far from the ozone layer, that’s why it is cold. So the tropopause is cold and the estratopause is warm, which means: the air becomes warmer as you rise above the tropopause until you get to the estratopause.
