The rocket-driven sled Sonic Wind No. 2, used for investigating the physiological effects of large accelerations, runs on a stra

ight, level track that is 1080 m long. Starting from rest, it can reach a speed of 1560 km/h in 1.70 s.
a) Compute the acceleration in m/s^2.
b) Compute the acceleration in gÍs.
c) What is the distance covered in 1.70s?

A) acceleration = [change in velocity] / [time interval] = [final velocity - initial velocity] / t =

acceleration = [1560 km/h -0] / 1.7 s = 1560 km/h / 1.7 s

convert the velocity to m/s: 1560 km/h * 1000 m/ km * 1h/3600 s = 433.33 m/s

acceleration = 433.33 m/s / 1.7 s = 254.9 m/s^2

b) Acceleration in terms of g

 acceleration = 254.9 m/s^2 /[ 9.8 m/s^2 / g] = 26 g.

This is the acceleration is 26 times the gravitational acceleration.

c) distance

d = a*t^2 / 2 = 254.9 m/s^2 * (1.70s)^2 / 2 = 88.2 m

Alex is asked to move two boxes of books in contact with each other and resting on a rough floor. He decides to move them at the
Over [174]

Answer:

Part a)

a= 0.32 m/s^2

Part b)

F_c = 3.6 N

Part c)

F_c = 5.5 N

Explanation:

Part a)

As we know that the friction force on two boxes is given as

F_f = \mu m_a g + \mu m_b g

F_f = 0.02(10.6 + 7)9.81

F_f = 3.45 N

Now we know by Newton's II law

F_{net} = ma

so we have

F_p - F_f = (m_a + m_b) a

9.1 - 3.45 = (10.6 + 7) a

a = \frac{5.65}{17.6}

a= 0.32 m/s^2

Part b)

For block B we know that net force on it will push it forward with same acceleration so we have

F_c - F_f = m_b a

F_c = \mu m_b g + m_b a

F_c = 0.02(7)(9.8) + 7(0.32)

F_c = 3.6 N

Part c)

If Alex push from other side then also the acceleration will be same

So for box B we can say that Net force is given as

F_p - F_f - F_c = m_b a

9.1 - 0.02(7)(9.8) - F_c = 7(0.32)

F_c = 9.1 - 0.02 (7)(9.8) - 7(0.32)

F_c = 5.5 N

a truck drives up a hill with a 15 incline. if the truck has a constant speed of 22m/s, what are the horizontal and vertical com
Kamila [148]

Answer:

speed of truck (v) =  22 m/s ,

angle of hill (Θ) =15°

Find

Vertical component (Fv) = ?

Harizontal component (Fh) =?

               Vertical component (Fh) = V cosΘ

                                                        = 22. cos 15

                                                        = 21.25 m/s.

               Harizontal component (Fv) = V sinΘ

                                                            = 22. sin 15

                                                            = 5.69 m/s.

a 60g tennis ball travelling at 30m/s hi a wall and bounce back at 20m/s.calculate (a)momentum of the ball before impact (b)mome
frez [133]

Explanation:

the formula for momentum is denoted by p=mv where p is momentum, m is mass and v is velocity. thus, the velocity before impact would be 0.060 x 30 = 1.8 kg/ms

the second one would just be 0.060 x 20 0.72kg/ms

I'm not 100 percent sure this is correct but yeah
