A science test, which is worth 100 points, consists of 24 questions. Each question is worth either 3 points or 5 points. If x is

the number of 3-point questions and y is the number of 5-point questions, the system shown represents this situation.
x + y = 24
3x + 5y = 100
What does the solution of this system indicate about the questions on the test?

X + y = 24....multiply by -3
3x + 5y = 100
---------------
-3x - 3y = - 72 (result of multiplying by -3)
3x + 5y = 100
--------------add
2y = 28
y = 28/2
y = 14

x + y = 24
x + 14 = 24
x = 24 - 14
x = 10

solution is (10,14)...and x represents 3 point q's and y represents 5 point q's......so this tells me there are 10 three point q's and 14 five point q's.

Please help me understand how to do this with an easy explanation
ASHA 777 [7]

Answer:

10 and 10

Step-by-step explanation:

So for the first one, 1-(-9), the two subtraction signs cancel each other out and are turned into an addition symbol. The new equation would now be the absolute value of 1 + 9. As we know, 1 + 9 is 10, and the absolute value of 10 is 10. The absolute value just means how many spaces the number is away from 0, and it will always be positive.

For the second one, -9 -1 would equal -10. Even though -10 is negative, the absolute value will always be positive, so the absolute value of the second one is also 10.

Hope this helps and let me know about any questions!

Answer:

From the graph and data points, you can observe that Group B has a HIGHER range and has a greater variability. so it's NOT 1. 4. or 3. THEREFORE it's 2.

Explanation:

You start out by finding the mean (finding the sum of the data values and then dividing the sum by the number of data values)

and subtracting the first plot by the last in each graph.

(at least I think)

I've been through this topic. (it was a long time ago since I'm now in highschool so this might be different now as the grading curriculum has changed)
