s shown below: A helicopter is flying at a height of 400 multiplied by square root of 3 feet above the ground. A zoo and a library are on the ground on the same side of the helicopter. The angle made by the line joining the helicopter and the zoo with the ground is 60 degrees. The angle made by the line joining the helicopter and the library with the ground is 30 degrees. What is the distance between the zoo and the library?

Answer: First option: 800 feet

Solution:

Height: h=400 sqrt(3)

Distance between the zoo and the point in the ground below the helicopter: d1=?

Distance between the library and the point in the ground below the helicopter: d2=?

Distance between the zoo and the library: d=?

d=d2-d1

tan 60°= h/d1

sqrt(3)=400 sqrt(3) / d1

Solving for d1:

sqrt(3) d1 = 400 sqrt(3)

d1= 400 sqrt(3) / sqrt(3)

d1=400

tan 30°= h/d2

sqrt(3) / 3=400 sqrt(3) / d2

Solving for d2: Cross multiplication:

sqrt(3) d2 = 3 [ 400 sqrt(3) ]

sqrt(3) d2 = 1,200 sqrt(3)

d2= 1,200 sqrt(3) / sqrt(3)

d2=1,200

d=d2-d1

d=1,200 feet - 400 feet

d=800 feet

<u>Answer:</u>

800 ft

<u>Step-by-step explanation:</u>

We know that the helicopter is flying 400\sqrt{3} feet above the ground.

A zoo and the library are on the same side of the helicopter, each making an angle of 60° and 30° respectively on the line joining the helicopter with the ground.

So we know it makes a right angled triangle with two different angles at the same side and a perpendicular of  400\sqrt{3}.

Assuming x to be the distance from helicopter to the library on the ground and y to the distance from helicopter to the zoo on the ground:

tan 30° =\frac{400\sqrt{3} }{x}

x = 1200 ft

tan 60° = \frac{400\sqrt{3} }{y}

y= 400 ft

Distance between the zoo and the library =  x - y = 1200 - 400 = 800 ft

If car can travel 50 miles in 55 minutes, how long will it take to travel 75 miles ?
mrs_skeptik [129]
First of all, if you are traveling more, then you will have to take more time to get there. So since the answer A is less than the original number 50 you can rule that choice out. Now to solve, you will put 50 over 55 such as this 50/55. This represents miles/minutes. So next you will put 75/x since we are trying to solve for x (minutes). Now our problem looks like this 50/55 times 75/x. To solve the answer you will need to cross multiply. You will multiply 75 and 55 together to get 4,125. (This will be your numerator, or top number) Next you will multiply 50 and x, this gives you 50. (This will be your denominator, or bottom number. Now you have 4,125/50. Divide your two numbers and you get 82.5! The answer is D. 82.5! Hope I helped!

Karen is starting a career as a professional wildlife photographer and plans to photograph Canadian Geese at one of the staging
balandron [24]

Answer:

$5000*0.816 = $4082

Step-by-step explanation:

It's a strange question, but based on the statement and the question it sounds like it's a poisson distribution:

* For 3 days she was able to get 2 good shots (<em>typical of that time of the year</em>)

* Good shots happen randomly

* Each day is independent of another

Let's call 'p' the probability that she makes a good shot per day

Let's call 'n' the number of days Karen is taking shots.

So, if in 3 days he got 2 good shots and that is typical at that time of the year, then the expected value for the number of good shots (X) is:

E(x)=\frac{2}{3}

For a Poisson distribution E (x)=\lambda\\\lambda= np

So:

\lambda =\frac{2}{3}

For a Poisson distribution the standard deviation is:

\sigma = \sqrt{\lambda}\\\sigma = \sqrt{\frac{2}{3}}

\sigma = 0.816 this is the standard deviation for the number of buentas taken.

So the standard deviation for income is the price of each shot per sigma

$5000*0.816 = $4082, which is the desired response.
