Before Transferring oil to Tank C :
Tank A = n
Tank B = n + 150
Tank C = 0

Total = n + n + 150
Total = 2n + 150

After transferring some oil to Tank C, each of the tank has the same amount.
Each tank = (2n + 150) ÷ 3 = 2/3 n + 50

500ml was transferred from tank A to Tank C:
n - (2/3n + 50) = 500
n - 2/3n - 50 = 500
1/3n = 550
n = 1650 ml

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Answer: The value of n is 1650.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Check:
Before Transfer:
Tank A = n = 1650
Tank B = n + 150 = 1650 + 150 = 1800
Tank C = 0

Total = 1650 + 1800 = 3450ml

After transfer:
Each tank = 3450 ÷ 3
Each tank = 1150

Tank A before transfer = 1650
Tank A after transfer = 1150
1650 - 1150 = 500 (checked)

You want to distribute 7 candies to 4 kids. If every kid must receive at least one candy, in how many ways can you do this?
Sergeeva-Olga [200]

Answer:

  20

Step-by-step explanation:

Once you give 1 candy to each of the 4 kids, you will have 3 remaining. The number of ways those can be distributed to 4 kids is given by ...

  (n+k-1)C(n)

where n is the number of candies, and k is the number of kids. "aCb" is the number of ways a can be taken b at a time:

  aCb = a!/(b!(a-b)!)

For n=3 and k=4, this is ...

  (3+4-1)C(3) = 6C3 = 6!/(3!·3!) = 20

There are 20 ways to distribute 7 candies to 4 kids so that each kid receives at least one.
