88.23%

Simply plug 15/17 into you calculator

and it will give you a decimal, in this case it should be .88235294...

simply move the decimal back to placements and you should have

88.235294... thats still a lot of numbers so just reduce it to 2 places after the decimal and add a percent sign

88.23%

and your done :) this works for any similar problems

I hope this helps

In a class of all girls, 22 of the 28 students have brown hair. What is the
Verdich [7]

Answer:

\frac{3}{14}

Step-by-step explanation:

Total Students = 28

Brown Hair = 22

NOT Brown Hair = 28 - 22 = 6

The probability of an event is the number of that event divided by total number.

So, let denote probability of without brown hair be  P(NOT BROWN). So, we can say:

P(NOT BROWN) = 6/28

Reducing, we get:

P(NOT BROWN) = 3/14

A taste test asks people from Texas and California which pasta they prefer,
melamori03 [73]

Answer:

Yes, they are independent because P(Texas) ≈ 0.45 and P(Texas/brand A) ≈ 0.45.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that a taste test asks people from Texas and California which pasta they prefer,  brand A or brand B. The table is given in the question.

A person is randomly selected from those tested.

And we have find that are being from Texas and preferring brand A independent events or not.

Firstly, we know that these two events will be independent when;

               P(Texas) = P(Texas/brand A)

Now, P(Texas) =  \frac{\text{Number of people from Texas}}{\text{Total number of people}}

                        =  \frac{125}{275}  ≈ 0.45

Also,  P(Texas/brand A)  =  \frac{P(Texas \bigcap Brand A)}{P(Brand A)}

                                        =  \frac{\text{Number of people from Texas and preferring brand A}}{\text{Number of people preferring brand A}}

                                        =  \frac{80}{176}  ≈ 0.45

Therefore, being from Texas and preferring brand A are independent events because P(Texas) ≈ 0.45 and P(Texas/brand A) ≈ 0.45.
