Answer: C) 2

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Work Shown:

Let x be some integer from the set {..., -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, ...}.
The multiplicative inverse of x is a number y such that x*y = 1.

Since we want x and y to be the same, this means y = x

Use substitution to go from
x*y = 1
to
x*x = 1
Basically I've replaced y with x

Now solve for x
x*x = 1
x^2 = 1
x = +-sqrt(1)
x = 1 or x = -1

There are 2 values of x where they are their own multiplicative inverse
1*1 = 1
(-1)*(-1) = 1

Y = -5x + 24 y = 4x - 21
Alex777 [14]
Hello!

You can put y into one of the equations

4x - 21 = -5x + 24

Add 5x to both sides

9x - 21 = 24

Add 21 to both sides

9x = 45

Divide both sides by 9

x = 5

You can now put x into one of the original equations

y = 4(5) - 21

y = 20 - 21

y = -1

The answer are x = 5 and y = -1

Hope this helps!

Item 9 An aquarium is in the shape of a cube. The aquarium can hold between 2744 cubic inches and 4096 cubic inches of water. Wh
Elena-2011 [213]

Answer:

14 in and 16 in

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

We are told that the aquarium has the shape of a cube

the first specification is

2744 cubic inches

volume= 2744 cubic inches

length = ∛2744

length= 14 in

the second specification is

4096 cubic inches

volume= 4096 cubic inches

length = ∛4096

length= 16 in

Hence the possible lengths are

14 in and 16 in

If f(x) = g(x), then what does 7x - 12 = -3x + 10?
Bumek [7]

Answer:

x = 2.2

Step-by-step explanation:

Comment

f(x) = g(x) I don't think has any meaning for this question. I will just solve the equation.

Solution

7x - 12 = - 3x  + 10                    Add 3x to both sides

7x + 3x  -12 = - 3x + 3x +10    Combine

10x - 12 = 10                            Add 12 to both sides

10x -12 + 12 = 10 + 12              Combine

10x = 22                                  Divide by 10

10x/10 = 22/10

x = 2.2
