REY [17]3 years ago
5 0

Answer:

42%

Step-by-step explanation:

1) so out of the 50 girls surveyed, only 21 students played in the league. We can write this as 21/50

to convert this into percentage multiply by 2 on both sides:

21*2=42

50*2=100

42/100=42%

42% of girls played in the league

hope this helps!

If sin a = - 4/5<br>and cos a &gt; 0, find tan a and sec a.
Nina [5.8K]

Answer:

tan(a) = -4/3

sec(a) = 5/3

Step-by-step explanation:

sine is opposite over hypotenuse.  so no we have a triangle with a hypotenuse of 5 and an opposite side relative to some angle a of -4.  the hypotenuse is never negative.

so draw a right triangle, mark one of the non right angles as a then the side opposite to that is -4 and the hypotenuse is 5.  use the pythagorean theorem to find the remaining angle.  The result could be positive or negative, but the questions specifically tells us we want the positive version.

b^2 + -4^2 = 5^2

b = 3

tangent is opposite over adjacent.  for a we know the opposite is 3now so tan(a) = -4/3

Now, secant is 1/cos, so lets find cos(a)

cos is adjacent over hypotenuse, and we jsut found the adjacent is 3.  so cos(a) = 3/5

Now 1/cos(a) = hypotenuse over adjacent so 5/3

What is the solution to the equation 1/4x - 1/8 = 7/8 + 1/2x ?
lyudmila [28]

Hey there! I'm happy to help!

We want to get all of the variables on the left side and all of the numbers on the right side. This will allow our variable to be isolated so we can see what it is equal to.

1/4x - 1/8 = 7/8 + 1/2x

We add 1/8 to both sides.

1/4x=1+1/2x

We subtract 1/2x from both sides.

-1/4x=1

We divide both sides by -1/4 (same thing as multiplying -4).

B. x=-4

Have a wonderful day and keep on learning! :D

PLZ HELP! ASAP! Plz SHOW YOUR WORK! Thx!

Remote interior angles are the two angles that are not supplementary with the exterior angle of a triangle.
<c and <a are the remote interior angles of <y
<a and <b are the remote interior angles of <d
In a tight triangle, one angle measures 90°. All triangles add up to 180° according to the Triangle Sum Theorem. Using the measure of 50°, we can find the measure of the other angle.
90+50=140
180-140=40
The measure of the other angle is 40.
I hope I helped :)
