Jay made 8 of 10 free throws. Kim made 25 of 45. Who made free throws at the better rate, and how do you know?

Divide the number made by the number of attempts:

Jay: 8 /10 = 0.80 = 80%

Kim: 25 / 45 = 0.555 = 55.5%

Jay had a better rate because 80% is greater than 55.5%.

I need help figuring out if this is a function or not and why
Kipish [7]

Answer:

4) is a function 5) is not a function

Step-by-step explanation:

4) This is a function because even tho some numbers in the domain have the same y value that doesnt mean the x values overlap. THink of it graphically or draw points do the points overlap? It shouldn't unlike question 5!

5) This is NOT a function. Why??? This is because now all numbers except 4 have more than one y value for one x value

for example: 1 has -1 and 3

That would overlap!!

What’s the least common multiple of x^2-2x-15 and x^2+2x-3?
Ghella [55]

Answer:

\large\boxed{LCM(x^2-2x-15,\ x^2+2x-3)=(x+3)(x-5)(x-1)}\\\boxed{=x^3-3x^2-13x+15}

Step-by-step explanation:

x^2-2x-15=x^2+3x-5x-15=x(x+3)-5(x+3)=(x+3)(x-5)\\\\\\x^2+2x-3=x^2+3x-1x-3=x(x+3)-1(x+3)=(x+3)(x-1)\\\\LCM(x^2-2x-15,\ x^2+2x-3)=(x+3)(x-5)(x-1)\\\\=(x^2-2x-15)(x-1)\qquad\text{use FOIL}\\\\=(x^2)(x)+(x^2)(-1)+(-2x)(x)+(-2x)(-1)+(-15)(x)+(-15)(-1)\\\\=x^3-x^2-2x^2+2x-15x+15\qquad\text{combine like terms}\\\\=x^3+(-x^2-2x^2)+(2x-15x)+15\\\\=x^3-3x^2-13x+15

Allen needs to prepare a compound for the patient to pick up tomorrow. He needs to mix of drug A, with of drug B and of drug C.
Phoenix [80]

Answer:

76/15

Step-by-step explanation:

Add the drug combinations together

Drug A + B + C=2/5 + 5/3 + 9/3

The L.C.M of the denominators is 15

=6+25+45/15

=76/15

Or

=5 1/15

Allen needs to prepare 76/15 compound for the patient

The point (7, 8) is the solution of which of the following systems of equations?
Alex73 [517]

Option 4

<u>V</u><u>e</u><u>r</u><u>i</u><u>f</u><u>i</u><u>c</u><u>a</u><u>t</u><u>i</u><u>o</u><u>n</u><u>:</u><u>-</u>

\\ \sf\longmapsto x-7y=-49

\\ \sf\longmapsto 7-7(8)=-49

\\ \sf\longmapsto 7-56=-49

\\ \sf\longmapsto -49=-49

And

\\ \sf\longmapsto 10x+9y=142

\\ \sf\longmapsto 10(7)+9(8)=142

\\ \sf\longmapsto 70+72=142

\\ \sf\longmapsto 142+142

Hence verified
