To answer this, write a system of equations and use one to solve the other.

b + 2c = 2000 or b = 2000 - 2c (substitute this in for b in the 2nd equation)

2b + 3c = 3300
2 (2000 - 2c) + 3c = 3300
4000 - 4c + 3c = 3300
4000 -c = 3300
-c = -700
c = 700 calories

He burned 700 calories per hour canoeing and 600 calories per hour playing basketball (2000 - 2 x 700).

What’s the answer?and how do you get it
Kay [80]

the solid is made up of 2 regular octagons, 8 sides, joined up by 8 rectangles, one on each side towards the other octagonal face.

from the figure, we can see that the apothem is 5 for the octagons, and since each side is 3 cm long, the perimeter of one octagon is 3*8 = 24.

the standing up sides are simply rectangles of 8x3.

if we can just get the area of all those ten figures, and sum them up, that'd be the area of the solid.

\bf \textit{area of a regular polygon}\\\\ A=\cfrac{1}{2}ap~~ \begin{cases} a=apothem\\ p=perimeter\\[-0.5em] \hrulefill\\ a=5\\ p=24 \end{cases}\implies A=\cfrac{1}{2}(5)(24)\implies \stackrel{\textit{just for one octagon}}{A=60} \\\\[-0.35em] \rule{34em}{0.25pt}\\\\ \stackrel{\textit{two octagon's area}}{2(60)}~~+~~\stackrel{\textit{eight rectangle's area}}{8(3\cdot 8)}\implies 120+192\implies 312

Each of the four sides of a swimming pool measures 12 m the pool is 6 m deep how much water will be needed to fill completely
Alex_Xolod [135]

The amount of water needed to fill the swimming pool completely is 864 cubic meters.

Given that each of the four sides of a swimming pool measures 12 m the pool is 6 m deep.

"Volume" is a mathematical quantity that indicates the amount of three-dimensional space occupied by an object or surrounding surface. Volume units are cubic units like m³, cm³, in³, etc.

As we know, the swimming pool is in cubic shape.

So, we will find the volume of cube using the formula V=l×b×h.

Here, l=12m, b=12m and h=m.

Now, we want to substitute the values in the formula, we get

V=12m×12m×6m

V=864m³

Hence, the amount of water needed to fill completely the swimming pool whose each of the four sides of a swimming pool measures 12 m the pool is 6 m deep is 864 cubic meters.

You have a tree in your yard 4 ft to the left of and 5 ft in front of the corner of your porch. A circular fence 3 ft in radius
Natalka [10]

Answer:

(x+4)^2+(y-5)^2=9

Step-by-step explanation:

If the corner of your porch is the origin

  • 4 ft to the left, x=-4
  • 5 ft in front, y=5

The tree's location is at (-4,5).

  • A circular fence 3 ft in radius has its center at the tree(-4,5).

We want to determine the equation of a circle with center (-4,5) and radius 3 ft.

The equation of a circle center (h,k) with a radius of r is given as:

(x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2

(h,k)=(-4,5), r=3

The equation formed by the fence therefore is:

(x-(-4))^2+(y-5)^2=3^2\\\\$Simplifying we obtain:\\\\(x+4)^2+(y-5)^2=9
