The sum of n terms is given from the first term and the common ratio by
![S_{n}=a_{1}\dfrac{r^{n}-1}{r-1}](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=S_%7Bn%7D%3Da_%7B1%7D%5Cdfrac%7Br%5E%7Bn%7D-1%7D%7Br-1%7D)
For your given values of a1=-11, r=-4, n=8, the sum of 8 terms is
![S_{8}=(-11)\dfrac{(-4)^{8}-1}{-4-1}=(-11)\dfrac{65535}{-5}\\\\=144177](https://tex.z-dn.net/?f=S_%7B8%7D%3D%28-11%29%5Cdfrac%7B%28-4%29%5E%7B8%7D-1%7D%7B-4-1%7D%3D%28-11%29%5Cdfrac%7B65535%7D%7B-5%7D%5C%5C%5C%5C%3D144177)
I believe this is scale factor? SF=new/old. 10/8= a scale factor of 1.25 (the image gets 1.25x bigger). To find x, multiply 5 by 1.25 and subtract the original length of 5 (you subtract this length because x is only the value of the new part of the triangle). X=6.25-5, X=1.25. Try to find y yourself using this scale factor. (Brainliest would be appreciated)
Pythagorean theorem.
a^2+b^2=c^2
This means that the square of the length of the 2 legs of a right triangle added together = the square of the length of the hypotenuses or diagonal.
If you know 2 of the values in the 3 variables a,b,c what would you do to find the missing variable value?
I will not write the exact answers to this problem. I think you can figure how to write it out yourselves.
Answer: Option C. 55
Solution:
The key for a stem-and-leaf plot is:
12 | 5 = 12 5
Stem | Leaf = Stem Leaf
55 | 6 = 55 6
Stem: 55
Leaf: 6
