A block weighing 87.0 N rests on a plane inclined at 24.1° to the horizontal. The coefficient of the static and kinetic friction

s are 0.25 and 0.13 respectively. What is the minimum magnitude of the force F, parallel to the plane, that will prevent the block from slipping?

Answer:

15.7 N

Explanation:

Draw a free body diagram.  The block has four forces acting on it.  Gravity pulling down, normal force pushing perpendicular to the plane, friction pointing up the plane, and applied force F pushing up the plane.

Sum of the forces normal to the plane:

∑F = ma

N − mg cos θ = 0

N = mg cos θ

Sum of the forces parallel to the plane:

∑F = ma

Nμ + F − mg sin θ = 0

F = mg sin θ − Nμ

Substituting:

F = mg sin θ − mgμ cos θ

F = mg (sin θ − μ cos θ)

Given mg = 87.0 N, θ = 24.1°, and μ = 0.25 (because the block is not moving):

F = 87.0 N (sin 24.1° − 0.25 cos 24.1°)

F = 15.7 N

Which of the following is an example of work being done on an object?
tensa zangetsu [6.8K]

Answer:

d. All of these

Explanation:

work is said to be done when a force is applied to an object through a certain distance. the SI unit of workdone is joules or newton per meter

mathematically

workdone = force x distance.

from the answers,  work is being done because there is force applied in a certain distance.

  • from wagon is used to carry vegetables from a garden.
  • pulley is used to get water from a well.
  • hammer is used to remove a nail from a wall.

Answer:

Explanation:

a )

The stored elastic energy of compressed spring

= 1 / 2 k X²

= .5 x 19.6 x (.20)²

= .392 J

b ) The stored potential energy will be converted into gravitational potential energy of the block earth system when the block will ascend along the incline . So change in the gravitational potential energy will be same as stored elastic potential energy of the spring that is .392 J .

c ) Let h be the distance along the incline which the block ascends.

vertical height attained ( H ) =h sin30

= .5 h

elastic potential energy = gravitational energy

.392 = mg H

.392 = 2 x 9.8 x .5 h

h = .04 m

Which of the following is an example of an electric force?
inysia [295]

The example of electric force in the given question is a Plastic wrap sticks to glass bowl containing leftovers. Option A is the right answer.

ELECTRIC FORCE

According to Coulomb's law, the electric force is proportional to the product of the charges and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.

The electric force can be:

  • Force of attraction
  • Force of repulsion

The electric force can be exhibited in both static and current electricity. Example of static electricity are;

  • a glass rod rub with fur
  • an ebonite rod rub with silk.
  • e.t.c

The example of electric force in the given question is a Plastic wrap sticks to glass bowl containing leftovers.

The plastic wrap is able to stick to glass bowl container because of the force of attraction between the plastic wrap and the glass bowl container.

Therefore, the correct answer is the option A
