Ans.

Gametes are defined as male or female germ cells, which fuse with gamete of opposite sex to form a zygote. Gametes are produced by the process of meiosis and thus, each gamete is haploid, having half the number of chromosomes as present in parent cell or in a normal cell.

When male and female gametes fuse together (sperm and egg, respectively), it leads to formation of zygote. As each gamete is haploid in nature, fusion of gametes results in formation of zygote having two sets of chromosomes (one from each gamete), hence, zygote is considered as diploid in nature.

Thus, the correct word to complete the sentence is 'diploid.'

What specializations might allow one tissue to produce a hormone, and another to facilitate nutrient exchange? is it possible fo
noname [10]

Differential gene expression patterns allow one tissue to produce a hormone, and another to facilitate nutrient exchange. The same organ can serve both functions because it can synthesize different proteins.

Diferential gene expression

Gene expression refers to the differential process by which different genes are expressed (transcribed and then translated) in different cell types.

Gene expression enables different functions due to the production of different types of proteins which may have both enzymatic and structural functions.

A specialized cell type or organ can synthesize different proteins and also generate other molecules (either enzymes or structural proteins) due to the process of cell differentiation.

Answer:

(B) Energy released from the chemical reaction is used to directly phosphorylate ADP.

(D) Energy released from the chemical reaction is used to directly reduce NAD+

Explanation:

phosphorylation is a addition of phosphoryl group to an organic compound.Substrate level phosphorylation is a process where there is ATP is produced from ADP by transferring a high energy phosphate group from phosphorylated metabolic compound. This process occurs in glycolysis and citric acid cycle.and this pathway is exergonic pathway

Give two similarities and two differences between gymnosperms and angiosperms.
kakasveta [241]

Similarities between Gymnospermes and Angiospermes:

· Having seed-Gymnospermes and Angiospermes are types of plants bear seeds. They belong to a single class known as Spermatophyta. Spermatophyta or seed plants are those plants that produce seeds.

· Diferentiation- The sporophyte (diploid multicellular stage in the life cycle of a plant) of both, Gymnospermes and Angiospermes, is differentiated into root, stem, and leaves.

Differences between Gymnospermes and Angiospermes:

· Seed-Although both have seeds, differences between them are huge. Gymnospermes have bare, non-encased seeds. The term "gymnosperm" in Greek means "naked seeds". On the other hand, seeds of Angiospermes are enclosed within an ovary, usually in a fruit.

· Pollination- In Gymnospermes, the pollination is by wind, unlike most Angiosperms, who use insects, mammals or birds. Gymnosperm flowers are often difficult to spot because they are not out to attract flying pollinators.
