Epinephrine has to cross the cell membrane to bind to its receptor in the cytoplasm. True or False

Biology

Vinil7 [7]3 years ago

Answer:

The statement is false.

Explanation:

Epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) is a hormone and a neurotransmitter produced by the adrenal glands, it helps to regulate cellular energy metabolism and increases the heart rate.

Epinephrine adheres to certain receptors that are exposed on the surface of a large number of body cells. This receptor, called beta-adrenergic, is a receptor that is embedded in the plasma membranes of these cells. Adrenaline does not penetrate the cell, instead, joining for a short period of time to its receptor, induces it to release biochemical signals to the cytoplasm of cells. This steric change, affects the configuration of the cytoplasmic domain of the protein, this is the "link" of the receptor that protrudes in the cytoplasm.

vovangra [49]

Extreme stress condition is a predisposing factor for respiratory alkalosis.

Respiratory alkalosis is the disruption of body's acid base balance due to high carbon dioxide levels in the body. It is a more common condition in people with rapid and uncontrolled breathing. The symptoms of the disorder include dizziness, bloating, confusion, dry mouth, etc.  The pH of the body is generally above 7.45 during respiratory alkalosis.

Stress is the psychological condition where a person takes excessive tension. It can lead to other conditions like anger, nervousness, irritation, etc. Stress can generally cause shortness of breath in  a person, eventually leading to respiratory alkalosis.

What family of KBOs does Orcus belong to?
Shtirlitz [24]

Answer:

Pluto

Explanation:

Orcus is a plutino, a trans-Neptunian object that is locked in a 2:3 resonance with the ice giant Neptune, making two revolutions around the sun to every three of Neptunes. This is much as pluto, except that the phase of Orcus's orbit is opposite from Pluto's: Orcus is at aphelion when pluto is at aphelion when Pluto is at perihelion and vice versa. This was a major consideration in selecting its name, as deity Orcus was the Etruscan equivalent of the Roman Pluto, and later becamean alternate name for Pluto

Which of the following statements about fossil fuels is false?
vekshin1

A) most of them formed thousands of years ago, and will take hundreds of thousands of years to renew.

Explanation:

Fossil fuels were not  formed thousands of years ago and will not take hundred of thousand of years to renew.

These resources are non-renewable and they take several million of years to form.

  • Fossil fuels are derived from organisms that have been buried rapidly in basins of deposition.
  • Rapid burial cuts them off from the oxic environment that degrades them to lose their carbon matter.
  • In turn, they turn to organic matter known as kerogen.
  • With increasing burial they form hydrocarbons.
  • Burial cause temperature and pressure to rise.
  • The process takes several millions of years to form.
  • No known fossil fuel reserve is several thousands of years.

In the stable form of protein, the ________ is generally oriented to the interior of the protein molecule.
dimulka [17.4K]

Answer:

Hydrophobic part

Explanation:

A protein is made up of amino acids. Some amino acids such as serine and threonine are polar and hydrophilic in nature as they have polar side chains. The other amino acids such as alanine and proline are non-polar as they have nonpolar side chains.

The polar amino acids of a polypeptide chain are folded towards the inside of the protein to avoid any interaction with the surrounding watery medium. On the other hand, the polar and charged amino acids are oriented towards the surface of a folded protein. This arrangement makes the proteins stable.
