The Reconstruction Act was put into place to bring the Confederate states back into the union in the quickest way possible and make sure the states were cooperating with the Federal Government.

The Morrill Land-Grant Act gave public land to states and territories for the use of schools and universities.

#6 - THE RECONSTRUCTION ACT (1867)

The Social Security Act was an entitlement program originally made to provide help for those unable to work.

Now it is an entitlement program that takes taxes from the working and gives the tax money to those who are unable to work (mostly the elderly).

The Pendleton Act prevented people with federal jobs from being hired or fired based on political affiliations or ties to politicians. Federal Jobs were now judged based on merit.

Also, this act prevented campaigns from soliciting donations on Federal property.

The G.I. Bill of Rights ( Servicemen's Readjustment Act ) gave benefits, mostly monetary, to all veterans of WWII who had served for more than 120 days and had not been dishonorably discharged.

The Patriot Act is designed to protect against terrorist crimes. It has many provisions that make it easier for law enforcement to obtain information and surveillance of terrorists. It also gives the power to punish terrorism in more extensive ways than in the past

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed any discrimination based on gender, race, religion or national affiliation as well as preventing unfair voting registration requirements and segregation in public places.
