Why can it help to line up the decimal points before comparing and ordering numbers with decimals?

Mathematics

Because it helps to see which one is greater, For example: if you line up 0.079 and 0.127 you can easily tell that 0.0127 is greater because it is closer to a hole number. Another example: 0.1 and 0.3, obviously 0.3 is greater. in conclusion, the reason you line up the decimal points is to make it easier to see which numbers are greater, which helps you compare and order easily!

Erik and Caleb were trying to solve the equation: 0=(3x+2)(x-4) Erik said, "The right-hand side is factored, so I'll use the zer
Mumz [18]

Answer:

C) Both

Step-by-step explanation:

The given equation is:

0=(3x+2)(x-4)

To solve the given equation, we can use the Zero Product Property according to which if the product <em>A.B = 0</em>, then either A = 0 OR B = 0.

Using this property:

(3x+2) = 0 \Rightarrow \bold{x = -\frac{2}{3}}\\(x-4) = 0 \Rightarrow \bold{x = 4}

So, Erik's solution strategy would work.

Now, let us discuss about Caleb's solution strategy:

Multiply (3x+2)(x-4) i.e. 3x^2-12x+2x-8 = 3x^2-10x-8

So, the equation becomes:

0=3x^2-10x-8

Comparing this equation to standard quadratic equation:

ax^2+bx+c=0

a = 3, b = -10, c = -8

So, this can be solved using the quadratic formula.

x=\dfrac{-b\pm\sqrt{b^2-4ac}}{2a}

x=\dfrac{-(-10)\pm\sqrt{(-10)^2-4\times3 \times (-8)}}{2\times 3}\\x=\dfrac{-(-10)\pm\sqrt{196}}{6}\\x=\dfrac{10\pm14}{6} \\\Rightarrow x= 4, -\dfrac{2}{3}

The answer is same from both the approaches.

So, the correct answer is:

C) Both

Open Brains data. SETUP: Some people believe that first born subjects have different intelligent (different IQ test). Given the
melamori03 [73]

Answer:

the test I will perform is d. Two-sided t-test

Step-by-step explanation:

When we are to compare between different data, critical regions occur on both sides of the  mean of a normal distribution,they are as a result of two-tailed or two-sided tests.

In such tests, consideration has to be given to values  on both sides of the mean.

for this question, it is expected to compare weather it is true that first born have different intelligent or not, weather to accept a null hypothesis or reject.

For example, if it is  required to show that the percentage of metal, p, in a

particular alloy is x%, then a two-tailed test is used,  since the null hypothesis is incorrect if the percentage  of metal is either less than x or more than x.
