A student was performing an experiment that compared a new protein food to the old food for goldfish. He found the mean weight g

ain for the new food to be 12.8 grams with a standard deviation of 3.5 grams. Later he realized that the scale was out of calibration by 1.5 grams (meaning that the scale weighted items 1.5 grams too much). What should the mean and standard deviation be for the new food

Answer:

Mean = 11.3 grams

Standard Deviation = 3.5 grams

Step-by-step explanation:

Mean is affected by change of origin but standard deviation is not affected. Hence the scale weighed items 1.5 grams affect only the mean not standard deviation. Hence, the mean for new food item is 12.8 - 1.5 = 11.3 grams as weight gain by 1.5 gram due to wrong calibration and the standard deviation remains the same as 3.5 grams.

Pete borrowed $400 for 1 year. He paid back a total of $440. What was the interest rate per year?
OleMash [197]

I=PRT/100

1. Make R (rate) subject

R/100= I/PT

2. Substitute and calculate

r/100= i/pt

r/100= 40/400 × 1

(<em>4</em><em>0</em><em> </em><em>i</em><em>s</em><em> </em>from 440-400.<em>T</em><em>h</em><em>e</em><em> </em><em>i</em><em>n</em><em>t</em><em>e</em><em>r</em><em>e</em><em>s</em><em>t</em>)

r/100= 0.1

r/100×100= 0.1×100

r=10% (interest rate per year)

To confirm

I=PRT

I= 400×10/100×1

I= $40 (Interest)

(p2+3p+6)+(2p2+6p+6) Please get this right. AND DON'T SPAM!
gayaneshka [121]

(p² + 3p + 6) + (2p² + 6p + 6)

First you must combine (aka sum) like terms. Like terms are numbers that have matching variables OR are numbers with out variables OR have matching variables with matching exponents. In this case the like terms are p² and 2p² (they both have the exponent p that is squared); 3p and 6p (they both have the variable p attached); and 6 and 6 (both numbers without variables)

(p² + 2p²) + (3p + 6p) + (6 + 6)

3p² + 9p + 12

Hope this helped!
