Net sales for the year were $600,000 and cost of goods sold was $366,000 for the company’s existing products. A new product is p

resently under development and will have an expected selling price of not more than $59 per unit in order to remain competitive with similar products in the marketplace.
a. Calculate gross profit and the gross profit ratio for the year.

b. What is the maximum cost per unit that can be incurred to manufacture the new product so that the product can be priced competitively and will not result in a reduction to the company’s gross profit ratio? (Do not round intermediate calculations and round your final answer to 2 decimal places.)

Answer: Gross Profit = $234,000, Gross profit ratio = 0.39

Explanation: Gross Profit = sales - cost of goods sold

= $600,000- $366,000

=$234,000

Gross profit ratio

= Gross Profit/sales

= 234,000/600,000

=0.39

B- Maximum cost per unit =

$59 * 0.39

= 23.01

= $23

Jim Busby calls his broker to inquire about purchasing a bond of Disk Storage Systems. The broker quotes a price of $1,180. Jim
Dimas [21]

Answer:

Jim Busby and Bonds of Disk Storage Systems

The new price of the bond is:

= $21,059

Explanation:

a) Data and Calculations:

Quoted price of bond = $1,180

Face value of bond = $1,000

Coupon interest rate = 14%

Bond's maturity period = 25 years

Current yield to maturity = 12%

Therefore, new price of the bond is computed as follows:

Bond Price = C* (1-(1+r)-n/r ) + F/(1+r)n

where C = Periodic coupon payment = $140 ($1,000 * 14%)

• F = Face / Par value of bond = $1,000

• r = Yield to maturity (YTM) = 12% and

• n = No. of periods till maturity = 25 years

= $140 * (1 – (1+0.12)^-25)/0.12 +$1000/(1+0.12)^25

= $140 * (1 - -17.00)/0.12 + $1,000/17.00

= $140 * (18.00)/0.12 + $1,000/17.00

= $140 * 150 + $59

= $21,000 + $59

= $21,059

QveST [7]

Answer:

Ai Lun estimate that  real rate would be 1%

Explanation:

The Formula for the Real Rate of Return is

Real rate of return =Nominal interest rate - Inflation rate

In this case ,

Nominal interest rate =3%

Inflation rate  is given by the rising of the consumer prices =2%

So,

Real rate of return =3% - 2%

Real rate of return=1%

Brian had the following items of income this year. • Salary - $22,000 • Child support received - $6,000 • Alimony received - $10
SashulF [63]

Answer:

$82000

Explanation:

Gross income is defined as the total sum of money received (salary, wages, rents, interests and other form of earnings) that an individual or a household receive before any deductions or taxes. Hence,

Given that

Salary = 22000

Alimony = 10000

Punitive damage = 50000

Gross income = 22000 + 10000 + 50000

= $82000

The child support and compensatory damages are not added because they are not taxable.
