You are given two true-breeding groups of gerbils. The gerbils in the first group have black fur and curly tails; the gerbils in
Alexxx [7]

Answer:

3 black gebrils have straight tails

Explanation:

Given -

First group of true breeding gebrils have black fur and curly tails

Second group of true breeding gebrils have yellow fur and straight tails

After the F1 generation, all the offspring would have black fur and curly tail

This means black fur is dominant over yellow fur and curly tail is dominant over straight tails

Let "Black fur" be represented by "B" and "yellow fur" be represented by "b"

Let curly tail be represented by "C" and straight tail be represented by "c"

Then parents genotype for F1 generation would be "BBCC" and "bbcc"

and genotype of first generation offspring would be "BbCc"

BbCc

BC         Bc         bC        bc

BC BBCC BBCc BbCC BbCc

Bc BBCc BBcc BbCc Bbcc

bC BbCC BbCc bbCC bbCc

bc BbCc Bbcc bbCc bbcc

Black Curly – BBCC, BBCc, BbCC, BbCc, BBCc, BbCc, BbCC, BbCc, Bbcc,

Yellow curly- bbCC, bbCc, bbCc

Black straight – BBcc, Bbcc, Bbcc

Yellow straight- bbcc

3 black gebrils have straight tails

How does a noncompetitive inhibitor decrease the rate of an enzyme reaction?
Wittaler [7]

Answer :B. By changing the shape of the enzyme's active site.

check the attachment

Explanation: This is a type of inhibition , in which a molecule binds to another part of the enzyme instead of the  active site.

On binding, it disrupts the  normal hydrogen bond and hydrophobic   interactions holding the enzyme molecule in its three dimensional shape, therefore distorting the conformation and   ACTIVE SITE of the  enzyme (changed it shape).

Since the active site is the precise location enzyme must bind with substrates for enzymatic reactions, this makes the enzyme not fit  for binding with the substrate, therefore  the efficiency  is reduced. No substrate-enzyme complex, and hence no substrate-product  complex for the release of  products, this brings down the turnover rate and eventually

<u>the rate of reaction of the enzyme</u>

Thus, the enzyme function is totally blocked, even in high concentration of the substrate,

What makes essential fatty acids amino acids different from ones that arent essential?
Svetlanka [38]

Answer:

\rB. nutrients that are essential cannot be made by the body, so they must be obtained from food.

Explanation:

If we look at the definition of essential fatty acids, it clearly states that these are fats which human body cannot prepare but are essential for proper functioning of body. Since body cannot synthesize them on their own, therefore we must obtain them through a diet rich in them. Two main essential fatty acids are:

  • Alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3)
  • linoleic acid (omega-6)

They play essential functions in body sucg as :

Production of hormones

Better adrenal and thyroid activity

Regulation of inflammatory and immune responses, function and development of brain.

Supporting the development of healthy skin and hair.

Option B is the best option.

Hope it helps!

Thank you
