Answer: The magnitude of her velocity ( v ) with respect to the shore is 5.70 km/h.

Explanation:

Magnitude of  Velocity of the boat = Q

Magnitude of Velocity of the river flowing = P

R = Resultant velocity due to velocity of boat and velocity of river.

Applying Law of triangles of  vector addition :

R=\sqrt{P^2+Q^2+2PQCos\theta}

From the figure attached:

P = 3.5 k/h, Q = 4.5 km/h

\theta= 90^o

R=\sqrt{P^2+Q^2+2PQCos\theta}=\sqrt{(3.5)^2+(4.5)^2+3.5\times 4.5\times cos90^o}=5.70

(Cos90^o=0),(sin 90^o=1)

\alpha =tan^{-1}\frac{Qsin\theta}{P+Qcos\theta}=tan^{-1}\frac{4.5 sin 90^o}{3.5+4.5 cos90^o}=tan^{-1}\frac{4.5}{3.5}=52.12^o

The magnitude of her velocity ( v ) with respect to the shore is 5.70 km/h.

An unwary football player collides with a padded goalpost while running at a velocity of 7.50 m/s and comes to a full stop after
frez [133]

Answer:

(a) the deceleration of the player is -80.36 m/s²

(b) the time the collision last is 0.093 s

Explanation:

Given;

Initial velocity of the football player, u = 7.50 m/s

Final velocity of the football player, v = 0

distance traveled = compression of the pad, s = 0.35 m

Part (a) the deceleration of the player

v² = u² + 2as

0 = 7.5² + (2 x 0.35)a

0 = 56.25 + 0.7a

- 56.25 = 0.7a

a = -56.25 / 0.7

a = -80.36 m/s²

Part (b) the time the collision last

v = u + at

t = (v - u)/a

t = (0 - 7.5)/ -80.36

t = - 7.5 / -80.36

t = 0.093 s

Which state will not change shape or volume when moved to a different container?
grandymaker [24]

Ans: C) Solid

Explanation: We will look into different states

A) Liquid : In liquid state molecules are not very tightly bound to each other. So, they have no fixed shape . They take the shape of container in which they are kept.

B) Gas : In gaseous state molecules are very loosely bound so they have very less intermolecular forces so they have much more freedom of movement.So, it will be also not correct.

D) Plasma : In Plasma state approximately equal amount of positive or negative charges are there, although its a type of hot ionized gaseous state but but due its different properties then other gases it is considered the 'fourth' state. And it also can't maintain it's definite shape and volume.So we will eliminate that also.

C) Solid : Finally we are left with solid state. Here molecules are tightly bound to each other . So, it doesn't change its shape and volume when kept in different container.

So 'Solid' state is the correct choice.

Hope it helps!!!

Answer:

The mass of the block, M =T/(3a +g)  Kg

Explanation:

Given,

The upward acceleration of the block a = 3a

The constant force acting on the block, F₀ = Ma = 3Ma

The mass of the block, M = ?

In an Atwood's machine, the upward force of the block is given by the relation

                                     Ma = T - Mg

                                      M x 3a = T - Ma

                                    3Ma + Mg = T

                                       M = T/(3a +g)  Kg

Where 'T' is the tension of the string.

Hence, the mass of the block in Atwood's machine is, M = T/(3a +g)  Kg
