krok68 [10]

Answer:

Maximum Radius = 2.89m

Explanation:

The maximum radius will be determined by the angle of incidence which is equal to the critical angle. Now, any angle larger than that will make the light to be totally internally reflected. Hence, we can figure out that angle from Snell’s law where the refracted angle is 90°, and then use the tangent function.

From Snell's law;

n_air*sin90° = n_water*sin(θ _c)

Where;

θ_c is the critical angle

Refractive index of water; n_water = 1.333

Refractive index of air;n_air = 1

Thus;

1*1 = 1.33sinθ_c

sinθ_c = 1/1.33

θ_c = sin^(-1)0.7519

θ_c = 48.76°

Like I said earlier, we'll use tangent to find the radius.

Thus;

tanθ_c = d/R

From the question, d = 3.3m

Thus;

3.3/tan48.76 = R

So, R = 2.89m

what would happen when an inflated balloon is place in an ice bath and the atmosphere pressure has not changed?
ruslelena [56]

The inflated balloon shrinks when it is placed in an ice bath with no change in atmospheric pressure.

<u>Explanation:</u>

        When the inflated balloon is subjected to an ice bath, it shrinks. This is due to the fact that smaller volume gets occupied by the air/gas inside the balloon as the temperature decreases. Hence, causes the balloon walls to collapse.

         An ice bath also lowers the overall air temperature of the balloon inside. As the temperature decreases, the air molecules move more slowly and with lower energy. Because of the particle's lower energy, their collisions with the walls are not enough to keep the inflated balloon.

A couple of soccer balls of equal mass are kicked off the ground at the same speed, butat different angles. Soccer ball A is kic
marysya [2.9K]

Answer:

Remember that Kinetic energy is a scalar quantity and it only depends on the speed and not necessary not the angle

Thus,Since the masses and the speed are same for both A and B, the initial kinetic energy of A and B are same.

b]

The difference or variation in gravitational potential energy is again a scalar quantity and so as long as the initial speed is same, the change in gravitational potential energy will also be the same [though they may not occur at the same horizontal position].

therefore, from the ground to the highest point of both A and B, both will have same potential energy.

Also The energy in part (a) differs from part (b),

In part (a) energy mention is kinetic energy that depends on mass and velocity of particle whereas in part (b) energy is potential energy that depends on mass and the position with reference of ground. Potential energy is a state function but kinetic energy is not.
