Hi! :)

I assume you meant to say the Pythagorean Theorem. The Pythagorean Theorem is a^{2} + b^{2} = c^{2} and it is used to find the length of a side of a triangle.

Hope this helps!

In EVERY right-angled triangle the square on the hypotenuse = the sum of the squares on the other 2 sides. The hypotenuse is the longest side ( opposite the right angle).

So if the length of the hypotenuse = c units and the lengths of the 2 legs are a and b units The theorem says

c^2 = a^2 + b^2.

A section of a boardwalk is made using 15 boards. Each board is 914914 inches wide. The total width of the section is 144 inches
xeze [42]

15 times 9.25 = 138.75 inches.
That leaves

144-138.75 = 5.25 inches for spaces.
Between the 15 boards are just 14 spaces, however.
So divide 5.25 by 14 and get
3/8" for each space.
Answer by Cromlix(4300) (Show Source):You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Hi there,
14 boards each 9 1/4 inches wide.
14 x 9 1/4 = 138 3/4 inches
144 inches - 138 3/4 inches

= 5 1/4 inches
Spaces between 14 boards
= 13 spaces.
5 1/4 / 13 = 2/5 of an inch.
Hope this helps. :-)

How many terms are there in a geometric series if the first term is 7, the common ratio is 2, and the sum of the series is 105?
uysha [10]

105 = 7. (1 - 2^n) / 1-2

105*-1 = 7 (1 - 2^n)

1 - 2^n = -105/7 = - 15

2^n = 16

Find the translation rule and the scale factor of the dilation that transforms Ol to Ol'.
lisov135 [29]

Answer:

 C (x, y) -> (x + 7, y + 8); scale factor = 3

Step-by-step explanation:

The translation can be found by subtracting the coordinates of the original center from those of the center of the image. The scale factor will be the ratio of the radii.

__

translation

We note the center coordinates are I(-3, -6) and I'(4, 2). Then the translation is ...

 I' -I = (4, 2) -(-3, -6) = (4 +3, 2 +6) = (7, 8)

 (x, y) ⇒ (x +7, y +8)

scale factor

The radius of each circle can be found by counting the grid squares from the center to the circle. It works best to do this along a horizontal or vertical line.

The radius of circle I is 2; the radius of circle I' is 6. The scale factor is ...

 scale factor = 6/2 = 3

Answer:

Constant of proportionality: 1/3

Equation: y=a/3

Step-by-step explanation:

If you look at the table you’ll see that for y=1, a will equal 3.

So a=3y -> a/3=y

There for the constant is 1/3.
