Starting from rest, a 68.0 kg woman jumps down to the floor from a height of 0.790 m, and immediately jumps back up into the air

. While she is in contact with the ground during the time interval0 < t < 0.800 s,the force she exerts on the floor can be modeled using the functionF = 9,200t − 11,500t2where F is in newtons and t is in seconds.(a) What impulse (in N · s) did the woman receive from the floor? Answer:

a) I = 0 N s,  b)  v = -3.935 m / s, c) vf = 3.935 m / s,   d)   y = 0.790 m

Explanation:

a) Let's start by defining the upward direction (+ y) as positive. For this part of the exercise we must use the momentum relationship

          I = ∫F dt

The force of the woman on the floor is given and by action and rection the floor exerts on the woman a force of equal magnitude, but opposite direction

        I = ∫ (9200 t - 11500 t2) dt

        I = 9200 t² / 2 - 11500 t³ / 3

We evaluate between the lower limit t = 0 and upper limit t = 0.800 s

       I = 9200 (0.8² -0) - 11500 (0.8³ -0)

       I = 5888 -5888

       I = 0 N s

Directed from the floor to the woman

b) For this part we use kinematics

      v² = v₀² - 2g y

     v = √ (0 - 2 9.8 (-0.79))

     v = 3.935 m / s

The speed direction is down

c) for this we use the relationship between momentum and the amount of movement

      I = ΔP

      I = m vf - m v₀

     vf = (I + m v₀) / m

This is the impulse of women on the floor

      vf = ( 0 + 68 (3.935)) / 68

      vf = 3.935 m / s

d) let's use kinematics

      v₂ = v₀² - 2gy

      0 = v₀² - 2gy

      y = v₀² / 2g

      y = 3.935²/2 9.8

      y = 0.790 m

In a ballistics test, a 24 g bullet traveling horizontally at 1300 m/s goes through a 25-cm-thick 360 kg stationary target and e
MaRussiya [10]

Answer:

A)0.00022s b)40363.6N c) 0.025m/s

Explanation:

Mass = 24g = 0.024kg, distance though the target = thickness of the target = 25cm = 0.25m

Initial speed of the bullet = 1300m/s, final speed = 930m/s

Using equation of motion

Distance = 1/2(vf+vi)*t (time in seconds)

t = 0.25*2/(1300+930) = 0.00022s

B) force exerted on the body

F = ma = m* (vf-vi)/t = 0.024*(930-1300)/0.00022

F = -40363N, it is negative because the body decelerated during this motion

C) using law of conservation of momentum,

M1*U1+ M2*U2(M2and U1 are the mass and initial speed of the body) = M1V1+ M2V2

The target was at rest so initial speed U2 = 0

0.024*1300 + 360*0 = 0.024*930 + 360*V2

31.2 = 22.32+360*V2

31.2-22.33 = 360*V2

V2 = 8.88/360 = 0.025m/s

What is pulling force expansion
Aloiza [94]

Answer:

physical cosmology, the Big Rip is a hypothetical cosmological model concerning the ultimate fate of the universe, in which the matter of the universe, from stars and galaxies to atoms and subatomic particles, and even spacetime itself, is progressively torn apart by the expansion of the universe at a certain time

(a) Calculate the tension in a vertical strand of spiderweb if a spider of mass 5.00 ✕ 10-5 kg hangs motionless on it.
sertanlavr [38]

a)The tension in the vertical strand will be 0.00049 N.

b))The tension in the horizontal strand will be 0.001284 N.

c)The ratio of tension in the horizontal strand to the tension in the vertical strand will be 2.62.

What is tension force?

The tension force is described as the force transferred through a rope, string, or wire as it is pulled by opposing forces.

Given data;

Mass of spiderweb = 5.00 ✕ 10⁻⁵ kg

The tension in a horizontal strand of a spiderweb, Tₓ

The tension in a vertical strand of a spiderweb, Tₐ

The angle at which the strand sags, Θ = 10.0°

R is the ratio of tension in the horizontal strand to the tension in the vertical strand

a)

From the FBD,

The tension  in the vertical strand is equal to the weight of the spider;

Tₐ = W

Tₐ = mg

Tₐ= 5 x 10⁻⁵ kg x 9.8 m / s²

Tₐ= 0.00049 N.

(b)

The super's total vertical forces are zero since it is not moving the value of the tension in the horizontal strand;

Tₓ = mg/( 2sinΘ)

Tₓ = 5 x 10⁻⁵ kg x 9.8 m /s² / ( 2 sin 11° )

Tₓ= 0.001284 N.

c)

R is the tension in the vertical strand divided by the tension in the horizontal strand.

R= Tₐ / Tₓ

R= 0.001284 N / 0.00049 N

R= 2.62

Hence, the tension in a vertical strand of a spiderweb, the tension in a horizontal strand of a spiderweb, and the ratio of tension in the horizontal strand to the tension in the vertical strand will be 0.00049 N, 0.001284 N, and 2.62 respectively.

The brief wave of positive electrical charge that sweeps down the axon is _____.
kobusy [5.1K]
I believe Action potential is the brief wave of positive charge that sweeps down the axon. Axon is part of the neuron that conducts impulses from the dendrites towards the cell body along the neuron. The action potential is brief since the sodium channels can only stay open for a very brief amount of time. As it travels along the neuron there is a change in polarity across the membrane of the axon .
