Larry , Moe, and Curly are pushing on a 25 kg crate. The crate is sitting on a horizontal floor, and the coefficient of kinetic

friction between the floor and the crate is 0.25. Larry pushes to the right with a force of 400 N. Moe pushes to the left with a force of 250 N. Curly pushes straight downward on the crate with a force of 150 N. What is the acceleration of the crate

Answer:

2 m/s².

Explanation:

The forces acting on the crate have been shown in the figure below.

Net force acting on the crate in the horizontal direction = 400 - 250 = 150 N towards right.

For the forces of vertical direction we can write,

Normal force = 150 + Mg = 150 + 250 = 400 N (here g = 10 m/s² have been taken)

The magnitude of frictional force that will act on the crate = μ × Normal force

So, Frictional force = 0.25 × 400 = 100 N

Thus, the net force that will cause acceleration in the crate will be

Force in the right direction - frictional force

= 150 - 100 = 50 N

As we know,

Acceleration = \frac{Force}{Mass} =  \frac{50}{25} = 2 m/s²

So, the net acceleration in the crate will be 2 m/s².

Two satellites are orbiting earth at different altitudes. Which satellite orbits at a higher speed v around earth? Assume that t
alexandr1967 [171]

Answer:

a) the one with a lower orbit    b) the one with a higher  orbit

Explanation:

Let's consider orbital mechanics. To get an object in orbit, we need it to fall to earth parallel to the earth's surface. To understand it easily imagine a projectile thrown horizontally further and further away, at one point, the projectile hits the cannon from behind. Considering there is no wind resistance, that would be a projecile in orbit.

In other words, the circular orbits of some objects around a massive body are due to the equality between centrifugal acceleration and gravity acceleration.

\frac{v^2}{r} = \frac{GM}{r^2}.

so the velocity is

v = \sqrt{\frac{GM}{r} }

where "G" is the gravitational constant, "M" the mass of the massive body and "r" the distance between the object and the center of gravity of mass M. As you can note, if "r" increase, "v" decrease.

The orbital period of any object in orbit is

T = 2\pi \sqrt{\frac{a^3}{GM} }

where "a" is length of semi-major axis (a = r in circular orbits). So if "r" increase, "T" increase.

How did the author describe the claws of uwang and salagubang?
Anna007 [38]

Answer:

Describes them as sharp and dangerous.

Explanation:

The author describes the claws of uwang and salagubang as large, sharp, dangerous and scary. This creates a certain suspense in the story, as it leaves the reader apprehensive about the imminent danger that these claws pose to those who know them. However, despite their appearance, the claws are not as deadly as they seem because they can only hurt people who are pinched by them.
