Answer:

The temperance movement is a social movement against the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Participants in the movement typically criticize alcohol intoxication or promote complete abstinence from alcohol (teetotalism), and its leaders emphasize alcohol's negative effects on people's health, personalities and family lives. Typically the movement promotes alcohol education and it also demands the passage of new laws against the sale of alcohol, either regulations on the availability of alcohol, or the complete prohibition of it. They thought it would help so people wouldn't be drunk and stuff like that.

Answer:

The early 20th century was an era of business expansion and progressive reform in the United States. The progressives, as they called themselves, worked to make American society a better and safer place in which to live. They tried to make big business more responsible through regulations of various kinds. They worked to clean up corrupt city governments, to improve working conditions in factories, and to better living conditions for those who lived in slum areas, a large number of whom were recent immigrants from Southern and Eastern Europe. Many progressives were also concerned with the environment and conservation of resources.

This generation of Americans also hoped to make the world a more democratic place. At home, this meant expanding the right to vote to women and a number of election reforms such as the recall, referendum, and direct election of Senators. Abroad, it meant trying to make the world safe for democracy. In 1917, the United States joined Great Britain and France, two democratic nations in their war against autocratic Germany and Austria-Hungary. Soon after the Great War, the majority of Americans turned away from concern about foreign affairs, adopting an attitude of live and let live.

The 1920s, also known as the "roaring twenties" and as "the new era," were similar to the Progressive Era in that America continued its economic growth and prosperity. The incomes of working people increased along with those of middle class and wealthier Americans. The major growth industry was automobile manufacturing. Americans fell in love with the automobile, which radically changed their way of life. On the other hand, the 1920s saw the decline of many reform activities that had been so widespread after 1900.

You are a Roman living around a.d. 215. Write an essay about how the Roman empire has changed since the reign of Trajan. As an o
zavuch27 [327]

Answer: As a citizen, the reign of Trajan would affect you positively because he made many reforms and changes to benefit Roman life and conditions. Some of his projects include: improving the dilapidated road system, constructing aqueducts, building public baths and extending the port of Ostia. All of these things helped the people at the time and allowed for better living conditions and less filth by less people sharing one bath

Many things have changed since the last two centuries. Nerva revised taxes and made land reforms that were able to help the poor. Hadrian made Roman law easier to understand and apply to everyday life. Antoninus Pius Enacted laws that assisted Orphans. Marcus Aurelius reformed Roman law and assisted in uniting the empire's economy. Most importantly, Trajan Greatly expanded the empire and gave money for education.

The one that has affected me most as an ordinary citizen, is how Trajan Greatly expanded the empire and gave money for education. Being 12 years old, I greatly appreciate the changes he made to the education system. Without it, children my age would probably not be receiving the same quality of education, or even no education at all as I am. I have all the thanks to give him for helping the education system by donating a lot of money towards this cause.
