An autosomal recessive disease has an incidence of 1/10,000. What is the approximate frequency of heterozygote carriers for this
goblinko [34]

Answer:

Option B

Explanation:

Given

Number of incidences or frequency of an autosomal recessive disease = \frac{1}{10000}

As per Hardy Weinberg's equation, frequency of a recessive genotype is q^{2}

q = \sqrt{\frac{1}{10000} }\\ q = \frac{1}{100}

As per first equation of Hardy Weinberg's -

p+q=1

so ,

p = 1-q\\p = 1-\frac{1}{100}\\p = \frac{99}{100}

p^2 = (\frac{99}{100})^2\\p^2 =\frac{9801}{1000}

As per second equation of Hardy Weinberg's -

p^{2} + q^{2} + 2pq=1

Substituting the given values in above equation, we get -

\frac{9801}{10000} + \frac{1}{100} + 2pq=1\\2pq = 1-(\frac{9801}{10000} + \frac{1}{100})\\2pq = 0.99%\\OR[tex]2pq=1%

2pq = \frac{1}{100}

Hence, option B is correct.

Which statement best describes human eye color?
PtichkaEL [24]

Answer:

The most appropriate answer would be option 2.

In humans, the color of the eyes was thought as a simple Mendelian trait however, it has been found that the color of the eye follows polygenic inheritance, that is, it is determined by multiple genes.

A set of 15 genes is responsible for the color of the eyes. Two genes out of these 15 are OCA2 and HERC2 which are present on chromosome 15.

Thus we can conclude that eye colour is polygenic trait which does not follow Mendelian genetics.

What similarities are found among segmented worm, like the leech, and flatworms, such as the tapeworm? What differences are foun
kirza4 [7]
Well, both have no skeletal or exoskeletal system and steal nutrients from their hosts. A leech though, usually steals nutrients from latching onto a host and stealing nutrients and such through blood. A tapeworm is accidentally ingested and lives in the stomach of its host, stealing the nutrients from the food the host eats. Hope this helps!

State three ways in which a sperm cell differs from an egg cell
WINSTONCH [101]

Answer:

Like a sperm cell, the egg contains a nucleus with half the number of chromosomes as other body cells. Unlike a sperm cell, the egg contains a lot of cytoplasm, the contents of the cell, which is why it is so big. The egg also does not have a tail.
