To understand the meaning and applications of the second law of thermodynamics, to understand the meaning of entropy, and perfor

m some basic calculations involving entropy changes. The first law of thermodynamics (which states that energy is conserved) does not specify the direction in which thermodynamic processes in nature can spontaneously occur. For example, imagine an object initially at rest suddenly taking off along a rough horizontal surface and speeding up (gaining kinetic energy) while cooling down (losing thermal energy). Although such a process would not violate conservation of energy, it is, of course, impossible and could never take place spontaneously. The second law of thermodynamics dictates which processes in nature may occur spontaneously and which ones may not. The second law can be stated in many ways, one of which uses the concept of entropy.

Answer:

The first law of thermodynamics is also known as the principle of conservation of energy. It states that if work is done on one system or it exchanges heat with another, the internal energy of the system will change.

The second law of thermodynamics marks the direction in which thermodynamic processes must be carried out and the impossibility of their occurrence in the opposite direction. It also establishes the impossibility of completely converting all the energy of one type into another without losses.

Explanation:

The first law of thermodynamics can be expressed as "energy is neither created nor destroyed, only transformed." This law defines heat as the necessary energy that the system must exchange to compensate for differences between work and internal energy.

In this way, the second law of thermodynamics imposes restrictions for energy transfers that could be carried out taking into account only the first principle. This law supports all its content and accepts the existence of entropy, so that, for an isolated system (there is no exchange of matter or energy with its surroundings), the variation of entropy must always be greater than zero.

Students who finish their homework after school are meeting ____ (A) normative and short-term goals.(B) normative and long-term
Svet_ta [14]

Answer:

(C) intrapersonal and short-term goals.

Explanation:

According to my research on goals and expectations, I can say that based on the information provided within the question students who accomplish this are meeting their intrapersonal and short-term goals. This is because they make these goals in their mind as a personal barrier that must be overcome in order to get a good grade and continue on to the next challenge in the short term.

I hope this answered your question. If you have any more questions feel free to ask away at Brainly.

Alex17521 [72]

Answer:

c. Tolerance

Explanation:

In psychology the term tolerance is used in substance use to refer to what occurs when the person doesn't respond to the substance the way he/she initially did, in other words, it takes larger doses of the substance to have the required effect or the same effect it used to have at first.

In this example, Tayla first needed just a few inhalations to cloud her mind. Now she needs to smoke more and more to achieve the same effect. We can see that she is not responding to marijuana the way she used to and now she requires more inhalations to have the same effect. Therefore this is an example of tolerance.

Connie engages in elaborate hand washing rituals. She feels that she must spend several hours a day at the sink washing her hand
n200080 [17]

Her behaviors are "Compulsions".

Answer: Option A

Explanation:

Compulsive behavior is defined as stubbornly and monotonously committing an act without it actually leading to a specific reward or enjoyment. Obsessive activities can be an inability to let go of compulsions.

If one need to eliminate such habits constantly interrupt action or at least slow down it. Best to be inconsistent about it, so postpone by 2 hours every time, then 10 minutes, then a whole day. It probably makes you feel more command over the behavior; the purpose is to note you are in power, not your compulsive behavior.
