A contractor is required by a county planning department to submit one, two, three, four, or five forms (depending on the nature

of the project) in applying for a building permit. Let Y=the number of forms required of the next applicant. The probability that y forms are required is know to be proportional to y, that is, p(y)=ky for y=1,...,5.
(a) What is the value of k?
(b) What is the probability that at most three forms are required?
(c) What is the probabilty that between two and four forms (inclusive) are required?
(d) Could p(y)=y^2/50 for y=1,...,5 be the pmf of Y?

The moon is about 240,000 miles from Earth. What is the distance written as a whole number multiplied by a power of ten?
ololo11 [35]

We need to find 240,000 written as a whole number multiplied by a power of ten.

We need to get rid of the four zeros behind 24 in 240,000.

24 would be our whole number.

We would need to multiply 24 by 10,000 to get 240,000.

10,000 is equal to 10^{4} because there are 4 zeros. Ex. when multiplying 200 by 30, we first multiply 2 * 3 then we add 3 zeros to the end of  6. So for 10*10*10*10, we add 4 zeros to the end of 1 which equals 10,000.

So the answer would be 24 × 10^{4}

2) a straight line the angles above it equal 180 and the angles below it add to 180
3) vertical angles are equal (vertical angles are angles that make an X the opposite angles are called vertical angles)

Graphically, a point is a solution to a system of two inequalities if and only if the point
trapecia [35]

Answer:

Lies in the shaded regions of both the top and bottom inequalities.

Step-by-step explanation:

The point of solution for BOTH systems of inequalities must work for both equations. Therefore, the point has to lie in both top and bottom shaded regions or it won't work for both, but just one.
