Answer:

Dependent: Cost of the ride.

Independent : Number of rides.

Step-by-step explanation:

The independent variable is the variable what we change and the dependent variable is the variables which changes because of that changes.

Here the total cost of ride changes for any change in the number of rides.

Hence, the number of rides is the independent variable and the total cost of ride is the dependent variable

A bolt is to be made 2.0 cm long with a tolerance of 4%. Set up an equation to solve for the shortest and longest bolt length. S
pickupchik [31]

Answer:

The equations are:

\text{shortest} = \text{length} - \frac{\text{tolerance}}{100}*\text{length}\\\text{shortest} = 2 - \frac{4}{100}*2 = 1.92\\\text{longest} = \text{length} + \frac{\text{tolerance}}{100}*\text{length}\\\text{longest} = 2 + \frac{4}{100}*2 = 2.08\\

Step-by-step explanation:

The ideal length of the bolt is 2.0 cm, since it has a tolerance of 4%, this means that length values between 2 + \frac{4}{100}*2 and 2 - \frac{4}{100}*2 are acceptable, because by those expressions the length of the bolt will be 4% higher or lower than it's original length. With this in mind let's find it's values:

\text{shortest} = \text{length} - \frac{\text{tolerance}}{100}*\text{length}\\\text{shortest} = 2 - \frac{4}{100}*2 = 1.92\\\text{longest} = \text{length} + \frac{\text{tolerance}}{100}*\text{length}\\\text{longest} = 2 + \frac{4}{100}*2 = 2.08\\

-5=3/4x-2 solve for x and please show your work!
Nookie1986 [14]
-5 = \frac{3}{4} x - 2 equals x = -4.

First, simplify \frac{3}{4} x to \frac{3x}{4}. / Your problem should look like: -5 = \frac{3x}{4} - 2.
Second, multiply both sides by 4. / Your problem should look like: -20 = 3x -8.
Third, add 8 to both sides. / Your problem should look like: -20 + 8 = 3x.
Fourth, simplify -20 + 8 to -12. / Your problem should look like: -12 = 3x.
Fifth, divide both sides by 3. / Your problem should look like: - \frac{12}{3} = x.
Sixth, simplify \frac{12}{3} to 4. / Your problem should look like: -4 = x.
Seventh, switch sides. / Your problem should look like: x = -4, which is your answer.

Can some show the steps and the answer please I really need help tell me how you get it and the answer
Tems11 [23]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

here is some helpful trig function reminders.. copy this and keep it

Use SOH CAH TOA to recall how the trig functions fit on a triangle

SOH: Sin(Ф)= Opp / Hyp

CAH: Cos(Ф)= Adj / Hyp

TOA: Tan(Ф) = Opp / Adj

they ask how long is the ladder

they give us the opposite side (8) and the adjacent side (6)

and the Hyp is the length of the ladder.   They expect you to sort this out in your head.  :/

there is two steps .. we'll solve for the angle.. then we can use that to find the Hyp side..(long side of triangle)  which is the ladder length

Tan(Ф) = Opp / Adj

Tan(Ф) = 8 / 6

Ф = arcTan(8 / 6)

Ф ≈ 53.130°

now lets use that angle with one of the other trig functions to find the Hyp.. sin or cos will work b/c we have both the opp and the adj sides lengths.  let's use cos

Cos(53.130) = 6 / Hyp

Hyp = 6 / Cos(53.130)   ( I just used algebra to swap the two)

Hyp = 9.99997

the ladder will be 10' long.

ask in the comments if you need any more explaining
