Answer:

Matthias Schleiden and Theodor Schwann

Explanation:

Though Robert Hooke discovered the cells he didn't know what he was looking at. It wasn't until later until Matthias Schleiden, Theodor Schwann, and lesser recognized Rudolf Virchow developed the cell theory stating that the cell is the universal unit of life.

A new DNA strand elongates only in the 5' to 3' direction because _____.
goldenfox [79]

Answer:

d. DNA polymerase begins adding nucleotides at the 5' end of the template

Explanation:

Polymerase DNA always works in one direction, synthesizing the new 5' to 3' oriented chains and adding nucleotides to the 3' end of a new synthesis chain by forming phosphodiester bonds between the phosphate of a nucleotide and the sugar of the anterior nucleotide.

Because DNA polymerase only acts in a 5' to 3' direction, replication along a chain, the leading chain, occurs continuously. The synthesis of the opposite chain, the delayed chain, occurs discontinuously because the DNA polymerase must wait for the replication fork to open. Over the delayed chain, short segments of DNA called Okazaki fragments (named after Reiji and Tsuneko Okazaki, the scientists who discovered these fragments) are synthesized as polymerase DNA works out of the replication fork. Ligase DNA catalyzes the covalent bonds between Okazaki fragments in the delayed chain to ensure there are no gaps in the phosphodiester skeleton. Finally, the first ones are removed and these gaps are filled by the DNA polymerase.

7. Phytochrome prevents seeds of some plants from germinating when they are in deep shade by the: absorption of far-red waveleng
SIZIF [17.4K]

Function of Phytochrome

Explanation:

 • The color of light that they absorb maximally by the two types such as Pfr is a blue-green structure that ingests far-red light (730 nm) and Pr is a blue structure that retains red light (660 nm)
 • Pfr assimilates far-red light, it is changed over to the Pr structure
 • Pfr can spontaneously revert to the Pr form structure in obscurity dark over time = dark reversion Pfr is additionally helpless to proteinases
 • Pfr contains some red light, so in red light 15% Pr and there is a parity of 85% Pfr.
 • The phytochrome (Pr) is changed over to the organically dynamic structure red light with the Pfr under illumination
 • Darkness and Far -red light convert the particle back to the inactive form.

Explain how a nymph grows or the molting process used for growing.
Alchen [17]

Answer:

As insect nymphs grow larger, their exoskeleton becomes too tight and they must replace it. Once a nymph outgrows its exoskeleton it will go through a process called molting, in which it leaves the old “skin” or exoskeleton behind. The new “skin” will harden and become the new exoskeleton
