Answer: 50.63° C

Explanation:

Given

Length of heater, L = 200 mm = 0.2 m

Diameter of heater, D = 15 mm = 0.015 m

Thermal conductivity, k = 5 W/m.K

Power of the heater, q = 25 W

Temperature of the block, = 35° C

T1 = T2 + (q/kS)

S can be gotten from the relationship

S = 2πL/In(4L/D)

On substituting we have

S = (2 * 3.142 * 0.2) / In (4 * 0.2 / 0.015)

S = 1.2568 / In 53.33

S = 1.2568 / 3.98

S = 0.32 m

Proceeding to substitute into the main equation, we have

T1 = T2 + (q/kS)

T1 = 35 + (25 / 5 * 0.32)

T1 = 35 + (25 / 1.6)

T1 = 35 + 15.625

T1 = 50.63° C

How much force is required to hold an empty carton of volume 1.5 L beneath the surface in a sink of water? Assume the carton is
Gwar [14]

Answer:

It will require 14.715 N of force to hold the cartoon beneath the water.

Explanation:

Given the the volume of cartoon is 1.5 liters.

We need to find the force required to hold this cartoon beneath the water.

As we know from the Archimedes principle that the net force is equal to the volume of liquid displaced.

Given volume of the cartoon is 1.5 liters. So, 1.5 liters of water will be displaced.

And we know the density of the water is 1000\ kg/m^3. That is 1\ kg/L

And g=9.81\ m/s^2

F_N=\rho Vg\\F_N=1\times 1.5\times 9.81\\F_N=14.715\ N

So, it will require 14.715 N of force to hold 1.5 liter volume of cartoon beneath the water.

A ship's boiler steam comes out at 112 C and pushes through the system, exiting into the condenser,
solniwko [45]

Answer:

D: 0.239

Explanation:

Equation for ideal efficiency is;

η = 1 - (T_c/T_h)

We are told that;

steam comes out at 112° C. Thus, T_h = 112°C. Converting to Kelvin gives; T_h = 112 + 273 = 385 K

The one exiting into the condenser is kept at 20°C. Thus; T_c = 20 + 273 = 293 K

Thus;

η = 1 - (293/385)

η = 0.239
