To carry out these functions, DNA sequences must be converted into messages that can be used to produce proteins, which are the complex molecules that do most of the work in our bodies. Each DNA sequence that contains instructions to make a protein is known as a gene. The DNA housed in the nucleus is too large to move through the nuclear membrane, so it must be copied by the smaller, single-stranded RNA (transcription), which moves out of the nucleus to ribosomes located in the cytoplasm and rough endoplasmic reticulum to direct the assembly of protein (translation).

The varicella virus is a common childhood virus that causes chicken pox. Shingles, a disease also
Ratling [72]

Answer:

The correct option is : It undergoes a lysogenic cycle.

Explanation:

A virus can replicate inside a host cell by two process :

  • Lytic cycle
  • Lysogenic cycle

In the lytic cycle, the viral DNA makes copies of itself and manufactures the viral machinery inside the host cell. Eventually, the host cell bursts causing the release of the viruses. In such a condition the varicella virus would cause chicken pox.

In the lysogenic cycle, the DNA of a virus get incorporated into the DNA of the host. The viral DNA might replicate when conditions become favourable and cause diseases. In such a condition, the varicella virus would cause shingles.
