20 is what percent of 16?

Mathematics

Reading through the problem we have "20 is", that's

"20 equals", "what percent", "x/100", "of 16", times 16.

So we have the equation 20 = x/100 · 16.

So cross-canceling the 16 and 100 to 4 and 25, we have 20 = 4x/25.

Multiply both sides by 25 to get rid of the

fraction and we have 500 = 4x so 125 = x.

Remember the =question is asking for "what percent"

so we should write our answer as 125%.

Finally, check to see if the answer makes sense.

Does "20 is 125% of 16" make sense?
