A computer network is a set of computer systems also called nodes which are connected together via communication channels.
These communication links can be telephone lines, modem (in old times) and nowadays these communication links are broadband, digital subscriber line DSL, cables, radio waves etc which are the communication links used for transmitting digital signals. Every communication link has its own data transmission speed. For example Fast Ethernet can provide data rate of 100 mbps and use coaxial cables, twisted pair cables and fiber optic cables.
Now what can be the nodes? These can be devices from a PC to a laptop computer or a smart phone etc.
The main purpose of a computer network is to share resources, communicating electronically such as videoconferencing, access to internet and exchanging data or files between the computers. These resources can be printers, storage devices etc.
Some types of networks are Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), Internetwork (internet).
Power Cycle: To unplug the printer and restart it, is called power cycling. The peripheral devices often tend to stop working and the cause of this is not always easily figured out. So the first and easiest way that can be done to fix this issue is to run a power cycle. For this, you have to turn off the printer and unplug it. Then wait for a few seconds (at least 30) and plug in the printer again. Turn the printer on. Power cycle helps to resolve many basic issues. It is the easiest step to take before checking the printer cable, reinstalling printer or resetting the print spooler.
Mesh network is network topology in which network nodes are directly connected with infrastructure nodes in active manner without following any hierarchy. This interconnection is made for continuous transmission of data through the network path.It can work even if any particular connection or node faces fault.
Z-wave commonly uses mesh topology for connecting the nodes to facilitate the home devices in wireless manner along with hub.
Zigbee also uses mesh topology for proving services at low cost to homes and other areas in wireless form also having router or hub as the linking device.
