<h3>150 one year subscription and 60 two year subscription were sold</h3>

<em><u>Solution:</u></em>

Let "a" be the number of one year subscription

Let "b" be the number of two year subscription

Cost of each one year subscription = $ 23

Cost of each two year subscription = $ 45

<em><u>I sold 210 subscriptions</u></em>

Therefore,

a + b = 210

b = 210 - a -------- eqn 1

<em><u>The total is 6150 dollars</u></em>

Therefore,

number of one year subscription x Cost of each one year subscription + number of two year subscription x Cost of each two year subscription = 6150

a \times 23+b \times 45 = 6150

23a + 45b = 6150 -------- eqn 2

<u><em>Substitute eqn 1 in eqn 2</em></u>

23a + 45(210 - a) = 6150

23a + 9450 - 45a = 6150

22a = 3300

a = 150

<em><u>Substitute a = 150 in eqn 1</u></em>

b = 210 - 150

b = 60

Thus 150 one year subscription and 60 two year subscription were sold

Suppose that the sitting back-to-knee length for a group of adults has a normal distribution with a mean of μ=22.5 in. and a st
aleksandrvk [35]

Answer:

Measures equal or lower than 19.94 inches are significantly low.

Measures equal or higher than 25.06 inches are significantly high.

Step-by-step explanation:

Problems of normally distributed samples can be solved using the z-score formula.

In a set with mean \mu and standard deviation \sigma, the zscore of a measure X is given by:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

The Z-score measures how many standard deviations the measure is from the mean. After finding the Z-score, we look at the z-score table and find the p-value associated with this z-score. This p-value is the probability that the value of the measure is smaller than X, that is, the percentile of X. Subtracting 1 by the pvalue, we get the probability that the value of the measure is greater than X.

In this problem, we have that:

\mu = 22.5, \sigma = 1.1

Find the back-to-knee lengths separating significant values from those that are not significant.

Significantly low

In this exercise, a value is going to be to significantly low if it has a pvalue of 0.01 or less. So we have to find X when Z has a pvalue of 0.01. This is between Z = -2.32 and Z = -2.33, so we use Z = -2.325

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

-2.325 = \frac{X - 22.5}{1.1}

X - 22.5 = -2.325*1.1

X = 19.94

Measures equal or lower than 19.94 inches are significantly low.

Significantly high

In this exercise, a value is going to be to significantly high if it has a pvalue of 0.99 or more. So we have to find X when Z has a pvalue of 0.99. This is Z = 2.325. So:

Z = \frac{X - \mu}{\sigma}

2.325 = \frac{X - 22.5}{1.1}

X - 22.5 = 2.325*1.1

X = 25.06

Measures equal or higher than 25.06 inches are significantly high.

Pump 1 can empty a pool in 9 hours while Pump 2 can empty the same pool in 12 hours. If the two pumps worked together, how long
ruslelena [56]

Answer:

About 5 hr 10 min

Step-by-step explanation:

rate 1   = 1  pool / 9 hrs          rate 2 = 1 pool / 12 hours

now find the time with both rates combined

1 pool / ( 1/9 + 1/12)  =   1/ (7/36)  =   36/7 hr  = 5 1/7 hr = 5 hr 8.6 min

Solve the equation for the variable. Make sure your answer is in simplest form.
olya-2409 [2.1K]

Answer:

<h2>x =  \frac{1}{2}</h2>

Step-by-step explanation:

30x+18=35−4x

First of all using the addition property add 4x to both sides

That's

30x + 4x + 18 = 35 + 4x - 4x \\ 34x + 18 = 35

Next using the subtraction property subtract 18 from both sides to make 34x stand alone

We have

34x + 18 - 18 = 35 - 18 \\ 34x =  17

<u>Divide both sides by 34</u>

That's

\frac{34x}{34}  =  \frac{17}{34}

We have the final answer as

x =  \frac{1}{2}

Hope this helps you
