Answer:

\boxed {\tt 3x^2+36x+81}

Step-by-step explanation:

Multiply the binomials using FOIL: First, Outside, Inside, Last.

Multiply the first terms, then the outside terms, then the inside terms, and finally, the last terms.

(x+9)(3x+9)

First

  • The first terms are x and 3x
  • (x * 3x)= 3x²

Outside

  • The outside terms are x and 9
  • (x*9)=9x

Inside

  • The inside terms are 9 and 3x
  • (9*3x)=27x

Last

  • The last terms are 9 and 9
  • (9*9)=81

3x²+9x+27x+81

Combine the terms.

3x²+(9x+27x)+81

3x²+36+81

The trinomial is: 3x²+36x+81

At a rate of 36 miles per hour, it takes Henry 15 minutes to drive from the library to his house. Show how to find the distance
EastWind [94]
This is applying the formula
distance=rate*time

We have a slight problem, though, because we are measuring rate in miles per hour, and we are measuring time in minutes. To make this problem solvable, we need to convert to either miles per minute or convert the time to hours. I'm going to convert the 15 minutes into hours:
15min*\frac{1 hour}{60 min}=\frac{1}{4}hour

Now that all of the units match, we have:
distance=36\frac{mi}{hr}*\frac{1}{4}hr

You can finish from there I'm sure.
