Take -5x + 3x = -2x

because there is a -3x and a 3x they cancel each other out.

and the -17 is left

-2x = -17

divide -2 by -17 = 8.5

-3x-3(-5x-17)=3
-3x+15x+51=3
12x=48
x=3

If y is equivalent to an equation you can substitute that equation in for the y variable in the other equation bc they have the same value. Which it what I did.

PLEASE HELP ASAP WILL MARK BRAINLIEST<br><br> Solve the quadratic equation <br> 18x^2 -153x -172 =0
Vika [28.1K]

Answer:

The answer is : x = 9.505 and x = -1.005

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve the quadratic equation use the formula :

x=\frac{-b+\sqrt{b^{2}-4ac } }{2a}

Where a is the coefficient of x² , b is the coefficient of x and c is the numerical term

∵ a = 18 , b = -153 and c = -172

∴ x=\frac{-(-153)+\sqrt{(-153)^{2}-4(18)(-172) } }{2(18)}

x = \frac{18+\sqrt{35793} }{36} &x=\frac{18-\sqrt{35793} }{36}

∴ x = 9.505 and x = -1.005

Two angles form a linear pair. the measure of one angle is 26∘26∘ greater than the measure of the other angle. find the measure
Tpy6a [65]

A linear pair means that the sum of the angles is 180 degrees.

Therefore:

a + b = 180°

We know that:

a = b + 26°

Therefore:

b + 26 + b = 180

2b = 154

b = 77°

So,

a = b + 26 = 103<span>°</span>
